YMMV / Ore Spawn

Go To

  • Demonic Spiders: Mantises and Bees early on in the game, particularly if one spawns in a forest biome. They will likely kill you a lot and unlike other common spawning bosses are too quick to easily escape a lot of the time.
    • Goddamned Bats: Bees become this once the player becomes powerful enough to curbstomp them. Mantises are exempt by virtue of dropping useful loot when killed, making them quite helpful.
  • Good Bad Bugs: When the structure containing the Royal Guardian set was introduced, players could simply enter from beneath skipping everything. Unfortunately, this was patched out.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The portrayal of Girlfriend's in this mod - functionally akin to pets that were "tamed" by giving them a rose, dropping lots of shoes upon death, and having them hold a diamond to make them stay and turn off the voice clips - were an early sign of the mod creator's misogyny that would come to light following the peak of his controversy.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This mod had giant bees years before the actual Minecraft ever did.
  • Moment of Awesome: To anyone, beating Mobzilla, the King and the Queen feels satisfying.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Nowadays, OreSpawn is best known among the Minecraft modding community for the attempts by the creator to charge money for it (a flagrant violation of the EULA), his vitriolic response once called out for it (leading to the mod's cancellation), and his attempts to get his fans to harass the mod's critics.
  • That One Boss: The Queen. While the King is fairly difficult, the Queen's purple projectiles, which can two shot you even with the best armor in the game.
  • Values Dissonance: The portrayal of the Girlfriends would never fly in The New '20s.
