dewick cameo

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Starlight Glimmer overcomes her criticism of either being a SpotlightStealingSquad whenever she appears in an episode or doesn't appear in the show often enough (outside of {{Cameo}}s) if the episode isn't about her. She has a major role in the episode, but doesn't take precedence over the plot making her a more natural-feeling character. She also shows more redeemable and relatable qualities than her magic or her past (which were referenced to the minimum), in this case her {{adorkable}} [[HiddenDepths love for the kites]]. She also won more favor by being one of the few characters in the show to respond to Pinkie's antics with anything other than blissful "That's just Pinkie Pie" dismissiveness (in fact Starlight looks to be irritated by it), and [[WhatTheHellHero call her out]], which some fans felt Pinkie had desperately needed since "A Friend in Deed", where Pinkie did the exact same thing to Cranky Doodle Donkey but was spared consequences.

Now Trivia requiring official confirmation it was made in response to complaints.

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Many fans objected to the ending of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E18AFriendInDeed A Friend In Deed]]", which [[BrokenAesop destroyed its intended message]] that some people just won't respond to your pushing friendship on them by vindicating Pinkie for eventually winning him over through her unyielding determination. This episode makes the same message much clearer as Pinkie unwittingly threatens Maud and Starlight's budding friendship with her constant interference, the difference being that [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone Pinkie takes it to heart]] once [[WhatTheHellHero called out on her behavior]].
** People have previously complained that Starlight Glimmer is either a SpotlightStealingSquad whenever she appears in an episode, or she simply doesn't appear in the show often enough (outside of {{Cameo}}s) if the episode isn't actually about her. Here, while she ''does'' appear, she isn't 100% hogging the screen, allowing for Pinkie and Maud to have their time in the limelight.
** This is also a throw towards the very divisive "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E6NoSecondPrances No Second Prances]]" by showing that Pinkie is 100% in the wrong for her actions breaking up the friendship with Starlight and Maud, unlike that episode where Trixie was in the wrong, but only because Twilight's paranoia and distrust got the better of her.

i cannot think of a scenario where you would say "due to the fact that" and can't simply say "because"

* StoicWoobie: The episode reveals that Maud is one of these. Despite generally not showing it, she does end up admitting that she feels a little lonely due to the fact that most ponies don't understand her and thus aren't interested in being friends with her.

A lot of fans have got fed up with Pinkie's Innocently Insensitive behavior that got in the way of and caused calamity for other ponies. This is an example because it was satisfying for somepony to finally call Pinkie out for it instead of being excused with the typical "She's just being Pinkie."

Added DiffLines:

* CatharsisFactor: Starlight Glimmer bluntly telling Pinkie Pie she was solely at fault for her sister Maud leaving Ponyville for Ghastly Gorge. What would otherwise be InnocentlyInsensitive is extremely satisfying to see considering how many times Pinkie had acted insufferably to others at times, especially to Cranky Doodle, Fluttershy, and Princess Luna in their respective episodes without actual consequence.

It's a videogame and toys trope
