* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic[=/=]EarWorm: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvEilACTKog theme song]] is ''very'' catchy.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Aside from the people who are JustHereForGodzilla, some people find Animated-Lizzie slightly annoying.
* BizarroEpisode: "[[FreakyFridayFlip Those Freaky McGuires]]" is this, especially for a show that's otherwise grounded in reality most of the time. The end hints that it might be AllJustADream. Subverted with the HalloweenEpisode as the supernatural stuff [[spoiler:is just a prank]].
* ContractualPurity: Not a straight example, but Lalaine (who played Miranda) was unfortunately caught in 2007 with possession of crystal meth. She got better though, and later had it removed from her permanent record after completing a drug treatment program.
* EpilepticTrees: There is a theory that is circulating around the Internet that Lizzie is a schizophrenic. It also partially explains why the show starts in middle school, and why Lizzie's friend Miranda disappeared from the show (even though the show states that she went to Mexico with her family). The theory can be [[http://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/21d83c/lizzie_micguire_show_and_movie_lizzie_is/ read here]].
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Melina for being a LittleMissBadass and match for Matt's schemes.
* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: The episode with Lizzie's advice column teaches the often-ignored side effect of bullying. Lizzie tells Veruca to just stand up to the bully - and Veruca then reminds her that "bullies have friends" and those friends gang up on her. Media at the time loved to teach the Aesop that standing up to a bully will automatically make things better, but that is not always the case.
* FanPreferredCouple: Doubles as ActorShipping. A lot of fans really wanted to see Lizzie stay together with Aaron Carter, who was briefly in a relationship with Hilary Duff at the time he guest starred. [[http://people.com/celebrity/aaron-carter-says-hilary-duff-is-the-love-of-his-life/ Aaron himself seconded this]].
* FoeYay: Some would argue, Kate and Lizzie.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Gordo tells Lizzie that Larry is "Music/MarilynManson to your Music/BritneySpears". "Britney Spears" was synonymous with "wholesome" back then...yeah. Ironically, Manson would later become known as a very well-spoken and intelligent man beyond his on-screen antics.
* GeniusBonus: The names Isabella and Elizabeth (Lizzie's full first name) from the movie are in fact the same name; Isabella is the Romance variation and Elizabeth is the Germanic variation.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** In the episode where Gordo gets to go to high school and the girls miss him, Miranda reassures Lizzie "I'm not going anywhere". Lalaine rather infamously disappeared from the show before the finale, Miranda to never be seen again.
** David Carradine's character fading away towards the end of Between a Rock and a Hard Place became this after his death in 2009.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: The episode that deals with Kate and Lizzie rediscovering their friendship when they have to work on a class project together. As of the events of the movie, Lizzie and Kate put aside their differences seemingly for good - and Kate is the one to help Lizzie [[spoiler: make a love connection with Gordo]].
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Ethan mentioned in one episode he'll take up water polo. Years later in real life, Clayton Snyder (his actor) ends up being part of the US water polo team.
** TheReveal and methods of the BigBad in TheMovie are quite similar to similar events in ''Disney/{{Frozen}}''.
** Miranda's suspiciously long [[PutOnABus bus trip]] with the knowledge that Lalaine was starring in ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' around the same time training as a Potential.
** In one episode, Lizzie says that she has [[Series/HannahMontana "the best of both worlds"]]
* JustHereForGodzilla: A lot of people only watch the series for the animated skits.
* {{Narm}}: Lizzie's nightmare where she frets about the guys thinking she's not feminine enough. Has to be one of the laziest nightmare scenes ever made, especially Kate's laughing.
* OneSceneWonder: Ethan's stepmother only appears in the murder mystery episode. But she's fantastically ditzy and even makes Ethan look smart.
--> '''Gordo:''' There must be something in the water at Ethan's house.
* PeripheryDemographic: Not all of Lizzie's (or Hilary's) fans were/are girls. The fact that Miranda, Kate, Claire, Parker and numerous other girls were [[TestosteroneBrigade quite pretty]] probably helped too.
** Co-star Jake Thomas has said that Lizzie [=McGuire=] is his favorite show of all time, and would be even if he weren't on it.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Sara Paxton in the episode "Election" as the resigning class president, always saying "really" as she announces the winner.
* UnintentionallySympathetic: Kate, Larry and Claire in "Facts of Life". While Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda spent their time learning nothing to prepare them for the Factathalon, the other three did actual studying, recruited a qualified teacher to help them prepare and deservedly won the Factathalon through actual work. But because they're the villains, we're meant to root for the main characters of the show and are expected to find it funny when their trip to Miami goes badly.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: See above. Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda don't put in the actual time and effort to prepare for the Factathalon and in fact don't act all that differently from the way the villains usually behave, going out of their way to taunt them, Lizzie and Miranda pressuring Gordo to help them win despite the fact he's already stressed out from his usual workload and Miranda PULLING THE FIRE ALARM in the middle of the competition.
