YMMV: Lights

  • Awesome Music: "Saviour" and "Suspension" among others.
    • The entire acoustic version of "Siberia."
  • Ear Worm: Many of her songs, particularly "Ice" and "Second Go." "Siberia" and "Quiet" are also very easy to get repeating in your head.
  • Fan Community Nickname: Either "Team Lights," "Lights Army," or "The LASers" (The 'LAS' standing for "Lights Addiction Syndrome")
  • Fan Nickname: The female Owl City to fans of Owl City, Lights fans tend to refer to Adam Young as the male Lights.
  • Moe: Just so much!
  • Narm Charm: It may be much more thoughtfully written than a lot of contemporary pop, but there's still a lot of lines that blur the divide of heartfelt and corny. She sings with the conviction to make it work, ad work it does.
  • No Hit Wonder: She's only had three singles that made it into the top 40 in Canada, and none elsewhere. This is despite having two gold albums and a large and devoted fanbase.
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: Not all, but a good portion of her discography could qualify. Most of The Listening is sugar-baked poetry and is a delight to listen to. Later material is much darker, but still works.
  • Tear Jerker: The acoustic version of "Cactus In The Valley" will definitely induce a few tears.
    • As could "Savior".
    • "Speeding" also counts.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: Portal could be seen as this:
Out on a balcony, reaching out to
Design this epiphany and with the sidewalks will do, and I just,
In the processes through means to the end
It's the glass bottle vessel and depths that extend to the space between us
