YMMV / Legendz

The Manga

  • "Stop Having Fun" Guys: Hosuke Dekai says "It's not about having fun, it's about winning and losing!" in the first chapter.

The Anime

  • Adorkable: Post-Character Development Bruno's tendency to overthink can be funny and adorable at times.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: A lot of the side Legendz and characters got plenty of attention and love, but Dandy the Devour Gator and Anna The Harpy gets this the most. BB and the JJs are also popular thanks to their antics, their Heel–Face Turn and helping in the final battle.
  • Evil Is Cool: Ranshiin is a bad guy who even beat up Shiron, but his popularity in the real world is very high, being second only to, ironically, Shiron.
  • Popular with Furries: While Legendz has faded into obscurity, furries and scalies keep taking a liking to the series that has plenty of animals and mythical creatures along the Sliding Scale of Anthropomorphism. Shiron and Ranshiin are particularly popular, with only the both of them leading to quite a few winddragon OCs existing. Greedo is no slouch at being popular either.
  • The Scrappy: Believe it or not, everyone who hates the Legendz in-universe will be guaranteed to plummet into this status.
    • Meg won a lot of fan hatred in the first half, due to her irrational fear towards Legendz that annoys people more rather than making them sympathize with her.
    • Halca also has a lot of detractors after her Face–Heel Turn thanks to her misunderstanding towards Legendz, and her starting to actively antagonize them.
    • Her father, the Dark Wiz Company CEO Yul Hepburn also gained a lot of hate because of his rather poor motivation of awakening Jabberwock, as well as being a massive Hypocrite by claiming he hates Legendz but uses Legendz to fight against the protagonist. The fact that he uses his own wife's body to power up an Eldritch Abomination and intending to help her doesn't help his case.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Needless to say, both Meg and Halca were forgiven by a lot of fans after the former accepts being a Saga and the latter has a Heel Realization. The CEO though, not so much...
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic:
    • The viewer is supposed to feel sorry for Meg and her fear for Legendz after she went through witnessing Mac painfully transforming into Garion, but more fans are annoyed instead of sympathizing with her. Then again...
    • The CEO, oh god so much. He just wants to exterminate Legendz that are threatening to destroy the world and erasing human civilization with their war. But never mind that Legendz also has their own free wills, and most of them are harmless outside of their duty to fight. What he did to his wife doesn't help his case, leading to many fans dubbing him 'sick' instead of feeling sorry for him.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: This show looks kiddy, but refer to Humans Are the Real Monsters and Mood Whiplash on the main page. Also, some of the Legendz had a strong intention of starting a monster war, for good (Garion) or bad (Ranshiin) intentions.
  • The Woobie: Dino Sparks, and also Zuou the Bigfoot. The former due to Parental Abandonment, the latter due to Meg's constant initial abuse despite being arguably the nicest of the Legendz.
