* AccidentalInnuendo: The scene during "Master of Disguise" where Robbie sneaks up on Stingy, an 8 year old boy, while singing "You walk right by me, not knowing that I'm slimy!" complete with a [[MemeticMolester creepy predator-esque]] expression on his face.
** Ms. Busybody gets a face full of sunscreen in "Sportacus Saves the Toys" when the Mayor angrily slams his fist on the bottle.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdVSLmFJDmc MMM MMMM Creamy!]]
* AccidentalNightmareFuel:
** The whole show. One critic described it as a "[[Creator/FranzKafka kafkaesque]] nightmare of a traumatized child".
** In one episode, Robbie disguised himself as the mayor, and ended up ''looking exactly like him,'' even though he's human and the mayor is a puppet.
* AdaptationDisplacement: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] - While most people have now discovered that ''[=LazyTown=]'' was based on a play and its sequel, even ''fewer'' people have heard of the original children's book the first play was based on, released in '''1991'''.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: An insane amount of these center around Robbie Rotten.
** According to [[http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.55409#404534 this thread]], Robbie Rotten is a TragicHero, as the series actually takes place AfterTheEnd and his goal to keep the kids inside is actually to protect them from radiation. Sort of Jossed in "Sportacus Save The Toys" when Sportacus visits France and China. Both countries seem to be fine.
** The fandom is known for its interpretations of character backstories. Fanfiction writers often give Robbie Rotten a tragic past. A few diehards have created interpretations of the mythical "Number Nine", mentioned only in one episode. A lot of fan theories revolve around Nine being Sportacus' father.
** [[http://worldofcrap.weebly.com/lazy-town---defending-freedom-and-cake.html This article]] argues that Robbie Rotten is the OnlySaneMan and that trying to let children play and eat sweets is actually preferable to Sportacus' enforcement of brutal physical torture and diet of seeds.
** Another fan theory suggests that Robbie Rotten was one of the former superheroes of [=LazyTown=], who gave up because he was frustrated with the kids reverting back to their old ways every time (that is, until Sportacus came along), so he just gave up and encouraged them to be lazy out of spite whilst being the town's villain for his own amusement.
*** Another theory similar to this one poses that Robbie was one of the original heroes, before Sportacus (ten) and the mysterious Number Nine; after all, the first of the heroes would be Number One.
** Stefan Karl did a Website/{{Reddit}} [=AMA=] in 2016. One question was "Way deep down inside, what does Robbie '''really''' think about the residents of [=LazyTown=]?" Stefan's response? [[IJustWantToHaveFriends "I wish I could be their friend."]] That's just...[[TearJerker da]][[JerkassWoobie mn]].
* AngstWhatAngst:
** The citizens of [=LazyTown=] are pretty unconcerned by the closed businesses, parental neglect, and bumbling mayor manning the helm.
** Sportacus seems awfully cheerful for someone who protects an entire town alone, and various episodes establish that he deals with everything from cats stuck in trees to natural disasters. Robbie Rotten's constant schemes don't help. Possibly justified if his implied elven nature gives him enhanced physical and psychological capabilities.
* AuthorsSavingThrow: After fans near unanimously hated the [[AudienceParticipation dance break sequences]] within the songs of Season 3, they were removed in Season 4.
* CriticalResearchFailure: In "You Are a Pirate", Stephanie sings the line "If you love to sail the sea, you are a pirate." Uh, Stephanie? Ever heard of a thing called ''[[EskimosArentReal sailors?]]''
* EarWorm: '''Every single song.'''
** Especially [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLMJpHihykI You Are A Pirate]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8hVXUVnLgk Secret Agent Zero.]]
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYrkQL1bX4A It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake!]]
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BK8zQV8MXg Dippity Dee, it's only me! Boopity Boo, I scared you!]]

** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZWO6m2GOF4 Hey! Hey! Sing it together! No one's lazy in LazyTown!]]
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQqhW_ZUQ00 I am a Prince.]]
** The original Icelandic shows gave us the extremely catchy [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VgcXBLDZDY Megabæt]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfYnvDL0Qcw WE ARE NUMBER ONE, HEY!]]
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** The mysterious [[TheGhost Number]] [[TheUnseen Nine]] who protected the town before Sportacus came along. The only time his or her existence is even acknowledged is in exactly ''one'' [[CrypticBackgroundReference line of dialogue]] in the pilot, but as seen below in FanFicFuel, the character has ''exploded'' in popularity among fans of the series who are fascinated by the entire implied mythology that the reference seems to represent. Many fans love crafting their own theories and explanations for who Number Nine was ( a common theory being Sportacus' father or mentor.)
* EvilIsCool: Well, "evil" is maybe [[HarmlessVillain too strong a word]], but Robbie Rotten is far and away the most popular of the main cast.
* FanFicFuel:
** Character backstories are popular candidates, as mentioned above.
** The mysterious Number Nine that's mentioned in the first episode, along with the implied One-Eight. It's a common [[EpilepticTrees theory]] among many writers that Robbie was [[MemeticMutation Number One]].
** The island in the North Sea (customs, technology, inhabitants, etc.) that Number Nine (and possibly [[AmbiguouslyHuman Sportacus]]) is said to come from.
** A line from Stingy's ImageSong: "Ziggy's sweets are mine!"
* {{Fanon}}: It's fairly popular in fanfiction to give Robbie some sort of magical heritage to go with Sportacus's (implied) elven heritage. Making Robbie at least part [[TheFairFolk fae]] is usually the go-to suggestion.
** It's also fairly common to make the original incarnations of Sportacus and Robbie-Íþróttaálfurinn and Glanni Glæpur respectively-some sort of relative to the more well known incarnations-father, brother, cousin, what have you.
** Fanartists, meanwhile, have collectively decided that Sportacus has blond, curly/wavy hair (not too unlike Scheving's natural hair) under that hat of his-''despite'' the fact that what little hair that's seen ''and'' the fact that his second actor is a natural brunette.
* FanonDiscontinuity: Many fans have brushed the episode "The Baby Troll" under the rug due to its bizarre (even by Lazytown standards) plot, and the [[AccidentalNightmareFuel unintentionally creepy]] [[UncannyValley design of the troll]].
* HarsherInHindsight: The week Stefan Karl Stefansson contracted cancer was the same week that [=LazyTown=] stopped airing re-runs on Sprout.
* HilariousInHindsight: "Cooking by the Book" is hilariously similar to the later "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOVDu7etQlc Cupcakes]]" song from ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''. Even funnier is that Pinkie Pie is piling on the candy!
** And then, in a season 6 episode of MLP, ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARBo-tp1JoM this]]'' happened.
** Near the beginning of "We Are Number One", Robbie Rotten says "this is going down in history". [[MemeticMutation Little did he know]]...
** Overlapping with HeartwarmingInHindsight, Stefan Karl Stefansson claims that part of the reason his cancer went into remission is due to taking time to exercise. Considering that Robbie's whole schtick is trying to convince kids to be lazy...
* HoYay: There is so much Sportacus/Robbie slash out there that it seems to outnumber any other kind. And it doesn't come from nowhere either: As just one example, one episode had Robbie falling asleep and happily murmur "Hello, Sportacus."
* JerkassWoobie: Robbie is a pretty big jerk, but still a very lovable one that displays occasional hints of loneliness. In an AMA, his actor revealed what he really thinks of the other characters, underneath it all: [[IJustWantToHaveFriends "I wish I could be their friend."]]
* JustHereForGodzilla:
** A lot of people watch the show just for Robbie Rotten and his schemes.
** A good portion of the older PeripheryDemographic watches it just for Stingy out of the belief that he gets some of the funniest lines.
* MemeAcknowledgment:
** The official [=LazyTown YouTube=] channel posted [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uN-UUeh-yA their own variant]] of "We Are Number One" on December 9, 2016, with promises to release the instrumental version. Not only did they do that the song's entire stems were released, as well as the song's [[WhatCouldHaveBeen original lyrics]].
** Even better, Stefan Karl (Robbie's actor) himself [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3pf7HCbtXo performed a live-reenactment]] of the song on December 11th, 2016. With the supporting actors, no less.
* MemeticBadass: Robbie Rotten ([[EvilIsCool sensing a]] [[RunningGag pattern]] [[EnsembleDarkhorse here?]]) has developed this reputation online, with many people declaring that he is the WorldsStrongestMan and one of the greatest TV villains of all time (most of the time incorporating variations of the phrase [[MemeticMutation "He is]] [[EarWorm Number]] [[AwesomeMusic One"]]. Taken even further when it turned out that his actor had [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome beaten Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.]]
* MemeticMutation: [[Memes/LazyTown This show absolutely reeks of this trope.]]
* MemeticPsychopath: [[TokenEvilTeammate Stingy]] is starting to develop this reputation online, after the infamous line "All your feelings are mine" from the "Mine" song and him running over Sportacus with his car, ''twice''. Of special note is the scene where he asks the mayor some [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5J3c6MlTOM questions about sports]] and the conversation takes a rather [[MoodWhiplash unexpected turn.]]
* {{Moe}}: Stephanie. Pink clothes, pink hair and perky as hell? Yep.
* ParentService: One word: Sportacus.
** And to an extent, Robbie Rotten and his ''*ahem*'' package.
** Then there's Stephanie, who is supposed to be eight, but her male fans only see the [[DawsonCasting teenage]] actress playing her.
* PeripheryDemographic: A lot of moms and teen siblings are as fond of the show as the kids it's aimed at, due in no small part to the 'talents' of the human actors (yes, all three). Enough so that it airs on Boomerang in the UK ([[ScrewedByTheNetwork albeit only in the early morning]]).
** Also, [[WatchItStoned stoners]].
** Several years ago, a portion of the ''Theatre/StarlightExpress'' fan community became a bit of a periphery demographic for the original ''Latibær'' stage shows.
** In late 2016, a new periphery demographic of teens and 20-somethings emerged, being split by people who watched the show as children and were brought back by nostalgia, and those who just WatchItForTheMeme ([[Memes/LazyTown and there are several]]). It's hard to tell which is which.
* PortmanteauCoupleName: The fandom has come up with portmanteau names for the show's two most popular pairings: [=SportaSteph=] for Sportacus/Stephanie, and [=SportaRobbie=] for Sportacus/Robbie.
* RootingForTheEmpire: Who ''doesn't'' want to see Robbie win for once?
* SacredCow: Stefán Karl Stefánsson, the actor who plays Robbie Rotten. If him playing a near-universally-liked fan favorite, getting some of the show's best songs, embracing the show's memes, and being [[MeanCharacterNiceActor a very nice person outside of the show]] hadn't already elevated him to this status, then the revelation of his cancer [[TearJerker entering stage 4]] has certainly done it......even more so when it transpired in July 2017 that Stefansson had ''[[HolyShitQuotient beaten]]'' '''[[CrowningMomentOfAwesome Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.]]'''
* SelfFanservice: Oh, the things the fandom does to Sportacus and Robbie Rotten... The extreme athleticism of the former and... ''suspicious bulge'' of the latter may be bordering on ParentService. Either way, the PeripheryDemographic has made some... ''interesting'' things of both of them. And, from an entirely different quarter, Stephanie.
* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: Eat healthy and try to move around every once in a while.
* SpecialEffectFailure: In many shots, the thick, black strings used to hold the puppets' arms up can be seen.
** A rare auditory example. If you listen closely to the intro of "We Are Number One", you can hear Robbie's fingers hitting the plastic on the "saxophone". It doesn't even look like he's even playing it.
* UncannyValley: Some people find the puppet characters creepy. Also: Robbie's face looks like it's made of plastic.[[note]]Robbie's makeup job is actually part plastic (well latex) - the chin and eyebrow ridges are latex prosthetics.[[/note]] Robbie seems to have been specifically designed to make people unable to tell whether he's one of the human characters or one of the puppets!
** They also have distance shots, and to have the puppets in them, they have to resort to using people in costumes. It's so jarring seeing these normally small puppets [[YourSizeMayVary suddenly be the size of Stephanie]].
** The original [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4nnIx-ZdQo Wit puppets used in the show's preproduction]]. Some fans argue they're [[UptoEleven even creepier looking than the final ones]].
** The puppets are a ''lot'' more creepy in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MrqT0nFN2Q the 2002 test pilot]]. In the actually very well-drawn 2D storyboard art shown, the characters actually look pretty adorable... until we see them as puppets.
*** [[FromBadToWorse And then Pixel stands up.]]
** Robbie's purple dinosaur disguise in "Cry Dinosaur" is pretty creepy as well. Thank god he kept [[TheChewToy bumping into things]].
* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The show is one of the most expensive children's shows ever created, so there's no doubt there's going to be a few examples.
