* AmericansHateTingle: Not the film itself, but Spanish audiences absolutely hated the dub it received, which made the characters speak in very stereotypical Spanish dialects and altered their lines at will to insert naff cultural jokes. The critics were dismayed, and there were reports of people leaving theaters after a few minutes of the film. Nowadays, Spaniards consider it one of the worst examples of failed {{Woolseyism}} in history, and only in some cases they see it as a SoBadItsGood of ungodly proportions.
* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Brother Sum]] is the leader of [[AnAxeToGrind the Axe Gang]], who control most of Shanghai with an iron fist. Sum [[EstablishingCharacterMoment makes his debut]] hacking a rival gang leader to death, then telling the man's wife she will be spared. When she turns to leave, he shoots her InTheBack. When a martial artist injures a member of his gang, Brother Sum threatens to set a woman and [[WouldHurtAChild child]] on [[ManOnFire fire]] if he does not reveal himself. His underlings fare little better, as Sum [[BadBoss kills them with no hesitation]] if they irritate or [[YouHaveFailedMe fail]] him. Upon being humiliated by the Pig Sty Alley residents, Brother Sum hires a pair of {{Professional Killer}}s to murder the local martial artists, which they do. He then breaks into an asylum and releases [[BadassGrandpa the Beast]] so that he will kill [[BattleCouple the Landlady and Landlord]].
* CrazyAwesome:
** The Beast, especially his Toad Style.
** The Tailor does not put on his arm rings in any fashion resembling "normal"; it's either yank them down from some curtains or have them stacked on a table (where he then slaps the table hard, shooting them up into the air and down onto his arms).
** The Lion's Roar definitely counts. Especially with a ''mega-phone'' [[spoiler: in the form of a bronze bell. Even The Beast didn't know what hit him]].
* CrossesTheLineTwice: You ''really'' don't know whether to laugh or cry at the CGI FX needed to depict [[spoiler:Sing's head getting bashed INTO the floor, deeper and deeper each time, over and over...]]
* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: Most of these are mixed with below trope, but the most awesome goes to, of course, [[spoiler:Sing's final attack against The Beast and how he easily disarms his ''An Qi''.]]
* CrowningMomentOfFunny:
** A lot, Sing and his useless sidekick's attempt to assassinate the land lady is but one of the many.
** Not to mention the scene directly after where Sing, fleeing from the enraged land lady, uses the knife stuck in his shoulder as a rearview mirrour.
** (splat) "Who's throwing handles!?"
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome:
** The fight with the Musicians versus the Baker and Tailor. This is pretty much the Musician's schtick.
** The film score got pretty epic for the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EQbynwxgDM Three Masters Reveal]].
** The Credits [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqifkpDcaqM song]] is pretty awesome too
** Pick a track, it's hard to go wrong. Realization will make you wince, no matter how many times you watch the movie. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP63rnMFcX8 "That's a pretty big fist you've got there."]]

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Yuen Qiu (Landlady), who earned an award nomination and several roles in later movies.
** She was allegedly just dropping a friend off who was auditioning but the staff thought she makes a great Landlady.
* ThisIsYourPremiseOnDrugs: What happens with the kung fu flick genre drinks a mixture of Red Bull and Powerthirst.
