These are what we call the 'YMMV items.' Things that some people find in this work. We call them 'your mileage might vary' because not everyone sees these things in the same way. YMMV: Karlsson on the Roof
Adaptation Displacement: Nowadays, most people in Russia know the character more from the Soviet animated adaptation than from the books themselves. The books, however, are far from unknown in the Motherland; every children's library has a dozen copies. Or so it was when this 30 years old troper was a kid.
Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The characters from the book enormously popular with the Russian public, their popularity boosted by a series of short animated films based on the books. One of the keys to the success of the series was a very creative, Woolseyism-laden translation; many of the phrases from Karlsson's dialogue have undergone Memetic Mutation.
