- Accidental Innuendo: The entire Hulesangen number. Even moreso in the Danish version, where the tones of voices are a little more... suggestive.
- Adaptation Displacement: The movies themselves are already obscure as they are, but something that is even more obscure is the book that Jungledyret Hugo's creator, Flemming Quist Møller, wrote a few years before the first movie was released, which it follows pretty closely but with several differences.
- First Installment Wins: The first two movies are generally viewed as underrated animated classics, while the TV-show and the third movie are viewed as downgrades in terms of qualities of both the animation and the plot.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Dellekaj is a red-haired big-nosed chef with a small furry sidekick. Sound familiar?
- Memetic Mutation:
- Rita's dance during the Pig Song.
- Rita herself was a brief Forced Meme on 4chan.
- Moe: The titular character and Rita. Both are Ridiculously Cute Critter's, fun-loving and loveable. Hugo himself being dubbed 'the cutest animal of all' is no surprise.
- Moral Event Horizon: Cupmann finally crosses this right before he tries to capture Hugo near the end of the second movie, when he hires in a pair of violent, aggressive hounds to not only sniff Hugo out, but also to kill Rita due to her "bad influence" over him. All with a gleeful grin on his lips when he explains it to Sensuella. And when she rightfully protests it, an annoyed Cupmann immediately fires her.
- Nightmare Fuel: Cupman going all over the edge in the second film and plainly giving his bloodhounds the order to tear that foxfur apart.
- Seasonal Rot: The TV series had much more "out there" plots, compared to relatively down to earth first two films. The third movie got a little better in that regard, but the writing and pacing arguably was still not on par to the first two.
