  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Exactly when did Bishop snap? Was it after he got the gun? Was it during the robbery? Was it after he killed Quiles? Was it after he killed Raheem? Was he like this the whole time?
      • How insane is Bishop? He's clearly Jumping Off the Slippery Slope and even proudly calls himself "crazy", but how crazy? He later blatantly frames Q for all of his shootings to Trip, and he sounds like he's really phoning it in. Even Trip looks at him like he doesn't believe a word he says. But later, he frames Q to his face, and he sounds like he genuinely believes these Blatant Lies. Is this a sign that he is truly off the deep end? Or is he Obfuscating Insanity?
  • Awesome Music: The film's soundtrack album, featuring a range of early '90s hip-hop and R&B, was a big hit in its own right.
  • Do Not Do This Cool Thing:
    • Skipping school, and running from the cops, especially with dangerous, roof-hopping parkour.
    • Commit robberies. Blizzard dies in a police shootout, and Old Man Quiles and Raheem lose their lives thanks to it.
    • Own a gun, at least with malicious intent. Bishop becomes Drunk with Power and goes absolutely Ax-Crazy.
  • Just Here for Godzilla:
  • Moral Event Horizon: Bishop has the honor of pulling off multiple horrendous acts over the course of the film.
    • Arguably the most straight example from Bishop has to be his murder of Mr. Quiles. He does it completely unprovoked, as he has Quiles at gunpoint, and even stole the gun Quiles usually keeps, so it’s not like he can potentially be a threat if he’s not careful. He later tries to justify it by saying “he made a move!”, despite the fact that Quiles was at best trembling in fear and was completely unarmed with his hands up.
      • Shortly after this, Bishop shoots Raheem, his own friend, because the latter asked for the gun to get rid of to not implicate them, and because he rightfully does not trust Bishop with it anymore. To add insult to injury, he steals the money they robbed Quiles of right out of Raheem’s pocket as he bleeds to death, and as if any salt needed to be poured into the wound, he hugs Raheem’s mother and allows her to cry on his shoulders as if he wasn’t her son’s murderer.
    • Bishop forcibly brings Steel along to an alleyway in the middle of the night, looking for Q. As Steel protests, Bishop decides that his former friend has become too much of a liability, and shoots him, framing Q in the process which gets him in trouble with Trip and the cops.
