YMMV / Jobs

Go To

  • Designated Hero: The film as a whole is borderline worshipful of Steve Jobs. His negative traits are either downplayed or justified by the film, and his incredibly unrealistic demands and abuse of his staff is never treated as anything more than the character being passionate about his company.
  • Narm: Many attempts at drama in this film are downright comical. One particular scene involves Jobs asking his employees where he can select fonts in Lisa Rite (which is still just a few months in development) and is enraged that they haven't started this minor detail yet. When his chief programmer explains that font styles are not a pressing issue at this stage, we get this incredibly cheesy line:
Jobs: Everything... is a pressing issue.
  • Questionable Casting: Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs. Somewhat downplayed as talked about in Took the Bad Film Seriously, but still present due to Kutcher playing so wildly against type. Granted, he does look the part.
  • Special Effect Failure: Kutcher's appearance as the middle-aged Jobs looks more like the actor put on a Halloween costume of him.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: Despite the rather mediocre quality of the film, many people consider Ashton Kutcher's acting to be one of the film's redeeming qualities.
