YMMV / Jeannie

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: This show itself is regarded as one to the Hanna-Barbera Shared Universe by people who watched this show during its run but not the original show, but because this show wasn't retained by Warner Bros., not many younger people have ever actually seen the series. It helps that people only knew this show even existed at all was via their Guest Star appearance on The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: A female genie dressed as a Sultry Belly Dancer whose signature move is cracking her ponytail like a whip. Are you sure we're not talking about Shantae?note
  • Retroactive Recognition: Mark Hamill made his voice acting debut here when he was in his early 20s. Yeah, that's right, before Star Wars. However, considering the show's obscurity, most people think he started in the late 1970s.
  • The Scrappy: Babu is held by many fans as the most annoying and hated character of the group. A man-boy of the first order, his magic ALWAYS causes disaster and in one particularly cringe-worthy episode, he runs away after getting chewed out by the other characters for messing things up. This isn't some sulk on a park bench either, he grabs a teddy bear, raids the fridge, and scampers off somewhere until the other characters apologize. It got to the point that the Mystery Inc. Gang (in their crossover episode), especially Shaggy could barely tolerate him note .
  • Shipping: This one has a bit more than subtext in that Jeannie is overtly jealous of Corry having any girl's attention. Corry and Jeannie would be the most shipped pairing from this show. While if anything for Henry or Babu would be a Crossover Ship with another Hanna-Barbera series.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Now that Jeannie was animated, we could have got more adventures than the original show. Instead, most of the episodes are practically remakes of the original show.
