YMMV / Henry Cavill

  • Crowning Moment of Funny:
"Batman doesn't have any superpowers...(Aside Glance) does he, Ben?
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: In stark contrast to the more intense portrayal of Superman he plays, Henry Cavill might just have the most heart out of any of the superhero actors. Many viewers have joked that Cavill himself is a better Superman than the DCEU's portrayal.
    • Henry, in support of the Durrell Wildlife Park, adopted a baby bat. Three guesses to what he named it.
    • There's also this.
    • After the 2017 attack in Westminister, Cavill sent out a heartfelt message urging Britain and the victims' families to stay strong.
    • His Instagram message celebrating National Superhero Day. He even tags almost every major actor currently working on superhero movies, be they DC or Marvel. Respect!
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: Thirteen years before Man of Steel was released, Henry Cavill worked as an extra in the film Proof of Life, which Russell Crowe starred in. During the filming of the movie, Cavill asked Crowe for advice about acting, since he had aspirations of pursuing a full-time career as an actor. A few days after their conversation, he received a box of goodies from Crowe that included a signed picture of him in Gladiator with the words, "Dear Henry: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" written on it. Fast-forward to 2013: Henry Cavill is playing Superman opposite Russell Crowe, who's playing his father and mentor, Jor-El. This was discussed here. Man of Steel is also the first time they've seen each other since that first meeting.
  • Retroactive Recognition: He's been working since his teens and has had a lot of small roles in The Count Of Monte Cristo, Tristan and Isolde and Hellraiser: Hellworld.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: The recent Superman films might be divisive, but it's clear Henry gives it his all out of sheer love for the character.
