|These are what we call the 'YMMV items.' Things that some people find in this work. We call them 'your mileage might vary' because not everyone sees these things in the same way. This starts discussions in the trope lists, a thing we don't want. Please use the discussion page if you'd like to discuss any of these items.|
- Double Standard: What would the attitude be if Hana kimi was about a guy who infiltrates an all-girl school to be near the girl "he admires"?
- Small Reference Pools: Several allusions to American culture in the series are stereotyped and/or inaccurate. One particularly egregious error was Mizuki saying people don't give chocolates on Valentine's Day in America. note American Valentine's Day works much the same as Japan's, only America doesn't have White Day; American boys and girls give each other chocolate on the same day, and typically give it indiscriminately.
