YMMV / Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince

  • Awesome Music:
  • Cliché Storm: So by the numbers, it's not even funny. Except when it is.
  • Fan Nickname: "Lacus" for Theoria, since the series has the same character designer as SEED, and she appears to fill the same role.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: After the reveal that Asagi was created using Commander Simon's DNA, it puts the scene where Commander Simon offers Asagi a way off the frontline in a new light. The Commander was just trying to keep his son safe!
  • Just Here for Godzilla: The balls out awesome mech fights are the sole reason some people watch the show.
  • Moe: Irie, especially with all the expressions she displays.
  • One True Pairing: Fans are overwhelmingly supporting Izuru/Kei.
  • The Scrappy: The silly and unintelligent Irie did not meeting with the audience's approval at first. But the real Scrappy of the series is Captain Komine, for being a vain, incompetent Jerk Ass who does nothing but blunder all the time and berate his underlings whenever something goes wrong. At least Irie has fans.
  • Slow-Paced Beginning: Watching Team Rabbit constantly bumbling and have to be bailed out is grating, but when they finally show some competence (about halfway of the initial cour), the audience will remember that they are watching a glorious Mecha anime with larger-than-life characters.
  • Tear Jerker: The credits of episode 19. Three points of light flying through space. At the end, two of them fly off, leaving the last one alone.
  • True Art Is Angsty: Several people are dismissing this show just because it's more comical and less dark in nature than most other Humongous Mecha series. As dark elements begin cropping up, it remains to be seen if those people will change their minds.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: While the character animations frequently go Off-Model (which is Justified since this is a comedy series), the CG animation for the mechs and the battles are nothing short of jaw-droppingly beautiful to watch.
