  • Game-Breaker: Aside from one or two glaring things, the Metagame is balanced enough that the community has made a running joke about how the only thing banned is bans themselves.
    • The Wind type prior to the expansion and the addition of the Warped type. In particular however, Power Aya outsped almost the entire gamenote ; had 105 Base Fo.Atk; Salvonote  and Twister; a physical multi-hitting Wind move. She also had a secondary Fighting typing; which hit one of the only two Wind Resisting types at the time for Super-effective. Warped was given a complete immunity to wind moves to balance the type out.
    • In Shard of Dreams, there is ONE gamebreaker, but it's an item, not a puppet. Said item being the Boundary Trance, obtained by getting 50 consecutive wins in the Puppet Exhibition. It doubles all of the stats of the holder, provided it has max happiness or is a starter. It's exactly as broken as it sounds. The only thing stopping it from being more broken is that the Puppet Exhibition is the final challenge in the game, only available after the True Final Boss, also making it a Bragging Rights Reward outside of New Game Plus, besides this item (and its weaker version, the Dream Shard, which raises all stats by 10% instead of doubling them) are banned by default from Pv P mode anyway.
  • That One Boss: The Yume no Kakera remake has Satori Komeiji, who copies your entire team to use against you, down to their stats and hold items. This results in a massive jump in difficulty from the flood of weak trainers that makes up most of the game, and she can potentially be a tougher fight than the final boss.
