YMMV / Game of Thrones S4E2: "The Lion and the Rose"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Was Tywin's disgust over Joffrey's mistreatment of Tyrion genuine or was his disgust based simply on the fact that Tyrion's mistreatment was made public instead of within the privacy of their own home?
  • Catharsis Factor: Joffrey's death is extremely satisfying, especially as it comes directly after a long line of dog-kicking that the idiot king does.
  • Genius Bonus: Tyrion attempts to save face by saying what a great honor it is to be the King's cupbearer, which Joffrey claims isn't meant to be an honor. In royal courts, the position of cupbearer was considered one of the highest honors to be bestowed, as it meant the person was trusted enough to serve the monarch's drinks without fear of poisons.
