• Hilarious in Hindsight: Three years after this game released, a certain new IP called Overwatch which was a cartoon-y shooter that was in pretty much in the same vein as this game during it's Overstrike days came out... and what do you know, it did great and was well received. Granted it was an FPS but that still didn't negate the fact that it's fun personality attracted audiences which is something this game could've gotten if EA didn't try to follow the treads of the time.
  • Internet Backdraft: Most people did not take the change from Overstrike to Fuse very well. Especially since the reason they gave was that their focus group of 12 year olds said that the original game looked too kiddy and demanded a more realistic style.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The general reaction to the game, from reviewers and players alike. They say while it's competent, and the Xenotech weapons have that trademark Insomniac craziness, the rest of the game felt bland, and some aspects, like some of the more far-out bosses, clashed with the more realistic style. Many who tracked the original game before the restyle said that had the game stuck to its guns, it would've, if not more enjoyable or better received, at least have stood out amongst its competitors.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Most reactions to the game being changed from the stylized Overstrike to the more realistic Fuse was this.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: There are some lines in the game's collectible notes implying that the "Fuse" substance is actually alive. This has no actual bearing on the events of the game.
