• Heartwarming in Hindsight:
  • Mia rescuing Olivia from Annabelle. In Royal Wedding, Mia feels like she didn't handle the situation well, since it outed Olivia as a princess and threatened her father's election position, but to Olivia, it was a Big Damn Heroes moment and she thinks Mia was like a guardian angel.
  • Olivia's shopping date with Grandmere, especially in contrast to Mia's interactions. Mia knows that Grandmere is a Manipulative Bitch that cares about high standards, but Olivia doesn't, and she is polite but firm in defending New Jersey.
• The Woobie:
  • Olivia, full stop. Orphaned, living with relatives who don't care about her and use her child support money for selfish reasons, she stays positive while thinking she doesn't deserve better. The book starts with her getting bullied for being a princess, when she doesn't even know. After Mia saves her from Annabelle, she only wants to see her dad, since they've only talked through letters.
  • Likewise, the poor saleswoman in Royal Day Out who keeps messing up genders and offended Grandmere by calling her "dear". Fortunately Olivia convinced Grandmere to Throw the Dog a Bone.
