* UnintentionallySympathetic: Joyce, because she was portrayed as an AntiVillain for her actions. While it was wrong for Joyce to hold a grudge against Lois, many people rooted for her to get back at Lois due to Lois' behaviour in post-cancellation seasons as well as for the horrible prank Lois pulled on her back in high school.

* AccidentalAesop: While not lampshaded, this episode actually teaches people to never reveal such controversial/sensitive information to people who you haven't had long term friendships with (especially if the person is someone you wronged). Lois and Joyce were friends for barely a week, and the former revealed to Joyce that she did a porno. [[TemptingFate You can guess what happens next.]]

** Also, your past actions can come back to bite you. While Joyce may be wrong for taking revenge, Lois did pull a nasty prank on her that left her with mental scars.

* JerkassWoobie: Joyce. While she did backstab Lois by telling the public that she did a porno which caused Lois to suffer immense humiliation, considering the horrific prank she was subjected to by Lois herself back in high school and how unlikeable she became as of late, it's hard not to feel bad for her and root for her.

Added DiffLines:

* RootingForTheEmpire: Considering how much of an AlphaBitch and {{Jerkass}} Lois has become over the course of the series, especially to her children, and the horrible prank she pulled on Joyce, it's probably safe to say that a lot of viewers were rooting for Joyce.
* TakeThatScrappy: Many fans found it satisfying for Lois to suffer humiliation because of how much of a KarmaHoudini she was in later seasons of the show.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: While Joyce was the antagonist, many fans do not see Lois in the sympathetic light due to her behaviour in post-cancellation seasons on top of the horrible prank she pulled on Joyce back in high school. Had this occurred in earlier seasons when Lois was more likeable, Lois probably would have been more sympathetic.

I wrote this, and I felt like it was whiny and biased. So changing up.

Natter.

* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: While it's obvious that grudge holding isn't healthy and that DisproportionateRetribution is wrong, this episode just teaches people that bullying and hazing people to the point that they are humiliated in front of the student body should be easily forgiven and swept under the rug.

* MisaimedFandom: While some fans felt Lois got what she deserved, Kinney's stunt [[DisproportionateRetribution was the more damaging]], as it resulted in Lois getting shamed by the entire town, and she did it years after the fact without confronting Lois about it first. Regardless of how you feel about Lois, this is not how you confront a former bully, who may instead wish to apologize, which Lois actually did. Had Lois not been sorry, then Joyce would have been a lot more justified.

** Some fans see this as EvilVsEvil due to Lois DesignatedHero status in the show and Joyce because she not only got revenge on Lois, but she (albeit understandably) refused to accept Lois' apology even after the latter showed remorse for the prank she pulled in high school.

* HilarityEnsues: In the real world, Joyce would have been fired immediately after airing her expose on Lois … not only because the story had no news value but that the story was meant only to humiliate someone with whom she held a grudge against (for making her the victim of a Carrie-style prank). WQHG would have been exposed to a huge libel lawsuit to boot.

Draco In Leather Pants? This is just ridiculous & melodramatic. This is already under Rooting for the Empire, and Joyce only had one episode focused on her & she’s not even popular in the fan base. . In the other episodes, she’s just portrayed as a bland news reporter and fans hate her for not being as entertaining as Diane.

* DracoInLeatherPants: Okay, Lois has been a shitty person as of late, and did pull a cruel prank on Joyce in high school, but Joyce herself immediately descended to her level when she eclipsed it by using her new spot as Quahog news anchor as a bully pulpit, humiliating Lois in front of ''the entire town'' by revealing the porno Lois took part in, and didn't even confront her directly beforehand about it or give a chance to apologize. Fans still rooted for Joyce because Lois was finally getting blowback for post-cancellation, even though she should have suffered more for those other actions, and Joyce [[HeWhoFightsMonsters was being as bad as Lois]]. Joyce could have still just confronted her directly and be justified in not immediately forgiving her, and even retaliating afterwards, but only if Lois refused to apologize in the latter case.

I don't have a problem with your views, but please stop sugarcoating Lois (that's my only problem with them). She's still a jerkass in late seasons, which is why fans think she deserves it. Had this been in earlier seasons, I would agree with you 100%. For example, when Peter attempted to get revenge on his bully who was suffering a bone-related disease, I sided against Peter (I hate bullies, but Peter was wrong for that).
