YMMV / Electric Wizard

  • Awesome Music: Lots of it. Come My Fanatics..., Dopethrone, and Witchcult Today stand out as particularly strong releases.
  • Epic Riff: "Dunwich" has an absolutely crushing, bluesy one as its component hook. Other good examples include "Behemoth," "Electric Wizard," "Wizard in Black," "Funeralopolis," and "Dopethrone." From their later work, there's the riff powering "Venus in Furs".
  • Hype Backlash: Dopethrone, virtually eclipsing the rest of their career, is the target of this. A common criticism is how disjointed and meandering the album is (even by the standards of Doom Metal) and some fans point out its incredibly dense sound was already a thing on Come My Fanatics....
  • Narm: The lyrics of "Satanic Rites of Drugula" are Nightmare Retardant at its finest, though it's made a bit more creepy once you find out its Fridge Horror — it's about a man artificially transformed into a beast by his master / mistress, the latter of whom injects their victims with dope before his / her subject kills them.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The lyrics of "I, the Witchfinder".
  • Suspiciously Similar Song:
    • Some parts of "Dopethrone" sound like Black Sabbath's "Iron Man."
    • They've adopted part of the main riff of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" to "Black Mass."
