- Hilarious in Hindsight: Ed O'Neill and Ethan Embry would later reunite to play partners who get along in the 2003 reboot of Dragnet
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Doyle became more famous after appearing as Preston Meyers in Can't Hardly Wait
- The blonde hooker that briefly joins them on the trip is Elizabeth Daily who'd ironically be better known as Tommy Pickles, Buttercup and so on.
- So Okay, It's Average: It's pretty much a watered-down imitation of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, right down to the humor and heartfelt moments feeling weaker in comparison. That mostly just means it's an alright movie instead of a great one like its predecessor, rather than being truly bad.
- Values Dissonance: With more paranoia about child abuse and kidnappings, a plot centered on a man physically abducting his girlfriend's middle-school-age son and getting into several fistfights with him would not be considered wholesome family entertainment today.
