* EarWorm: "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CB1fFeb1n8 Fever]]" and "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsBtQCDbTWc Chill]]" by Creator/HirokazuTanaka. And from one of the commercials, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmCze4DhZ3c Call the doctor, Mario, ohh-oh.]]"
* MemeticMutation: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9N8egk-3Oo This remix]] of the theme song, found in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosMelee'', is very popular in Japanese MAD videos.
* NightmareFuel: [[NightmareFuel/SuperMarioBros As usual]], here we have the GameOver [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u6TsEutA4M music]]. It starts off [[ScareChord in a chilling way]] and then it doesn't get better, either. It's [[IncrediblyLamePun chill]]ing. [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment "Chill," too.]]
* NintendoHard: Once you reach the later levels, it can be hell trying to organize pills with over half the screen being filled with viruses. Good luck trying to beat the last two levels, where you have exactly three height spaces to work with.
* PortingDisaster: Largely averted with the UsefulNotes/GameBoy version, which is hardly a porting disaster at all. Literally the only thing that puts it below the other versions is the lack of color, which makes it slightly difficult to discern between the different virus types.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: "Fever" for "Lady Madonna" by Music/TheBeatles. And the main title theme for "Sherry" by Music/FrankieValliAndTheFourSeasons.
* UglyCute: The viruses.
* UncannyValley: Many fans are creeped out by Dr. Mario and Dr. Luigi's ThousandYardStare in ''Miracle Cure''.
