YMMV / Dickie Dick Dickens

Go To

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The radio dramas and books were very popular in Norway and Sweden. In Norway in particular, the radio drama is considered an absolute classic; it's been voted "best radio drama" and "best crime radio drama" by radio listeners, and it was also the basis for a popular theatre play in 2011.
  • Moral Event Horizon: In a series about gangsters, with lots of thefts and quite a few killings, it takes quite a lot before someone is considered having actually crossed the line — but James Topper and his gang manage it in the second series with the murder of Mummy Tobo-Dutch. Dickie even explains in detail why this particular murder wes unforgiveable:
"Listen, Effie. I'm pretty hard-boiled myself. Heaven knows I've done my fair share of stuff. But these people have gone too far! Yes, Mummy Tobo-Dutch had her flaws. Plenty of them. But whenever one of us was in trouble, they could always hide out and have a bite to eat at her place. She was off-limits for everyone in the business. Nobody ever harmed her, not even Jim Cooper! And now a couple of lowlives just show up and blow a hole in her head?! No, Effie, that's unacceptable!"
