  • Demonic Spiders: Hunters on Day 3, especially on Hard. You only get enough resources for three Flamethrowers (their main counter), and they can distract/gang up on said Flamethrowers if you are unlucky. You don't get enough resources for a fourth Flamethrower until a few more waves in. They're much more manageable on Day 5, where they only appear on Wave 11 onwards.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • The Infected cannot be slowed down by the Fuel Launcher because they're wearing the same engineer suits as the good guys, which presumably is fuel-retardant. Furthermore, their slow walking takes a lot less movement than the Runners', Bursters', and Hunters' mobile legs.
    • One huge complaint about the game is the fact that the engineers can't turn around even if an enemy comes from the side, and can only fire in their field of vision. This could be justified because they're noncombatants, therefore when the alien attack occurs, they're frozen in fear for the most part.
  • Goddamned Bats: Bursters. These guys are a guaranteed kill on your units if they get near thanks to blowing up when killed, and they travel extremely fast. Furthermore, they can easily kill Flamethrowers and Imploders who are pretty much required against Hunters and Infected. If a Burster manages to blow up your flamethrower or Imploder unit in front, your defences are going to be overrun very soon. Thankfully a Fuel Launcher will make them slow and easy pickings, but when they come in numbers, you may not be able to kill them before they reach you.
