• Arc Fatigue: The author normally devotes a lot of time to each arc, so must are incredibly long compared to those of other stories.
• Foe Yay Shipping: A fair amount of the series fans (at least, the ones who consistently post on the threads) seem to view Flame and Melissa as a good couple. Given that the two are Friendly Enemies (or at least getting close to that point), this isn't too unrealistic. The author has stated that this is unlikely, as Flame hasn't completely forgiven Melissa for taking him from everything he knew and loved. He'd need something really spectacular to happen to truly forgive her for that. The author eventually admitted he was unwilling to have them pursue a romance due to fears over accusations of Stockholm Syndrome.
