YMMV / Code Geass: The Prepared Rebellion

Go To

  • Adorkable: C.C. herself, surprisingly enough. Despite being Really 700 Years Old and having Seen It All in all that time, there are still things that can caught her off-guard due to lack of direct personal experience with them. Most notably, Lelouch acting like a boyfriend – even if not in an overly sexual manner, like simply returning a hug or patting her head – can get her quite flustered.
  • Arc Fatigue: A trait shared by many of SeerKing's works, this fic takes forever to update, and when it does, the developments are rather slow moving. Complicating matters is SeerKing's erratic writing "schedule". While this fic is the first in the schedule, it still requires waiting for them to completely cycle back around before any chance at another update, outside of the rare Interlude chapters. This long wait sometimes causes chapters to only come out twice a year, if that, and can make waiting for the plot to progress a chore.
  • Broken Base: This is a Code Geass fic, so there's plenty of contention to go around.
    • C.C.'s Unexpected Virgin status has caused debate. Some people find it sweet that Lelouch was her first, and think it makes sense. Others find it implausible that she was a virgin for over 700 years, especially considering what her Geass was.
      • Although considering the fact she was only a Virgin in the 'technical' sense, Lelouch being the first man she's been with should be taken into account.
    • Nunnally's crush on Lelouch has not gone without controversy. Some are fine with it, but others find it squicky or think it cheapens their relationship.
    • The decision to add Euphemia to the harem is also rather contentious. Not only are the aforementioned opinions regarding Nunnally similarly applicable to her (albeit not quite to the same extent), the fact that she's Suzaku's canonical Love Interest has led to further controversy.
    • Speaking of Suzaku, as always, there's serious breakage regarding him. Just how justified is the in-story treatment of him? Does it go too far into cruelty, or is nothing he doesn't deserve in and out of story? His treatment is heavily influenced by how the reader feels about him as a character. If they sympathize with him, they more often feel the former. If they dislike him, they often feel the latter.
  • Catharsis Factor: After seeing how much of a bitch that Melisande Ashford is, it is immensely satisfying to see her disinherited, humiliated, and finally assassinated.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In the second part of the film remake of the first two seasons of the Code Geass anime, Jeremiah states that he would've gladly joined Lelouch's side from the beginning had he just told him his real identity. This exact development takes place in Chapter 7 of Prepared Rebellion, which was published (in its second version) two and a half years prior to the film's theatrical release.
    • Also from the film remake, the first film has Mao Adapted Out, sparing Shirley from the effects he had on her. This happened here first, the author killing Mao in his only appearance and admitting he despised Mao for what he did to Shirley.
  • Nausea Fuel: The filthiness of Tetsuya and his cronies is disgusting both in-universe and out.
