 | These are what we call the 'YMMV items.' Things that some people find in this work. We call them 'your mileage might vary' because not everyone sees these things in the same way. YMMV: Chris Brown
|
- Crowning Moment of Awesome — His performance at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. In fact, not six months after his assault on Rihanna, BET wanted him to replicate his Michael Jackson tribute dance but then rebuked the offer.
- Ear Worm: "With You," "Kiss Kiss," "Run It," "Forever"...
- Fan Dumb. A large and very vocal portion of Chris Brown's fan base adamantly maintains that Chris has never done anything wrong or say that Rihanna deserved to be beaten. Some journalists have even argued that these fans may be the biggest reason why people have been so slow to forgive Chris Brown
- And then there's the "Chris Brown can beat me!" fangirls.
- Mr. Fanservice
- Harsher in Hindsight — The lyrics of Rihanna's "Disturbia", which he helped write, especially:
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind it can control you
I feel like a monster, oh
- Internet Backdraft: Goes without saying. Mentioning his name on the internet will bring a an avalanche of arguments.
- Memetic Mutation — His "Forever" song was used in this wedding dance video
that was viewed millions of times online.
- Also pop duo Karmin covered "Look At Me Now."
- Never Live It Down — How he assaulted Rihanna early 2009. So much that 3 years later, he's still considered an
Acceptable Target to troll.
- In a more serious sense, his actions have also had a lasting impact on his career. For a while, he was unable to attend Award Ceremonies due to Rihanna's restraining order, and his criminal charges has made it harder to perform International Tours.
- Nightmare Fuel — The video for "Wall to Wall."
- Sampled Up — "She Ain't You" samples SWV's "Right Here", which itself sampled Michael Jackson's "Human Nature".
- Tough Act to Follow: "Exclusive," in terms of critical success; "Graffiti" was mercilessly railed on.
- Win Back The Crowd: Compare the overall reaction to "Graffiti" to that towards "F. A. M. E."
- Yoko Oh No: Especially after he was arrested for the Rihanna incident. Many fans claim to this day that it was her fault because she cheated/gave him herpes/shouldn't have started the argument/all of the above.
- And then there's the ones who want him to hit them...
