* WTHCastingAgency: Most of the playable cast aren't voiced by their original actors, and the replacements are extremely noticeable. Creator/NolanNorth as Father, Captain K'nuckles, Mojo Jojo and Hoss Delgado is the worst offender, as his distinctive voice doesn't sound anything like any of his characters' original actors.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: In response to complaints about the [=3DS=] version having [[TheOtherDarrin almost none of the original voice actors]], the ''XL'' re-release brought back more of the original actors and had them redub their characters' dialogue.

* SoOkayItsAverage: The original version was released to rather mixed to negative reviews, due to the flunky gameplay and the various in-game glitches. The reviews to the UpdatedRerelease seem to be a bit more favorable.

* TierInducedScrappy: Given this game isn't exactly made with CompetitiveBalance in mind, there are some characters who stand out.
** [[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack Aku]] is despised for his quick and far reaching laser attacks that he can spam relentlessly, creating a wall of lasers which very few characters have an answer to.
** [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls Blossom]] is considered the best of the three Powerpuff Girls for one thing; her ice-breath attack, which is capable of infinitely chaining into itself, has a huge hitbox and can be spammed relentlessly. Combine this with her incredible speed and combo potential, her multiple jumps allowing her to recover from anywhere on the stage and her small size making her ''unbelievably'' difficult to hit, and you've got a recipe for a LightningBruiser who's considered one of, if not ''the'' best characters in the game.
** On the lower end of the scale, Flapjack is considered low tier due to his weak attacks and lack of range, while Young Ben suffers from incredibly laggy attacks that don't deal enough damage to compensate for how slow they are.

We have the protagonists of many, ''many'' Creator/CartoonNetwork shows, fighting all of the villains who teamed up, but the villains make some... Rather questionable area decisions ([[WesternAnimation/Ben10 Vilgax]] in [[WesternAnimation/{{Chowder}} Marzipan City]], for one), along with the reveal that the villain of the game is [[spoiler:the remote control of the Narrator]], which, while done in the manner of many of Cartoon Network's signature comedies, [[GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere is entirely out of place]] in a CrisisCrossover, and one could argue that any of the villains in the game could have been better as the BigBad.
** Despite being a CrisisCrossover between several of Creator/CartoonNetwork's iconic and fan-favourite shows, ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'' and ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'' get no representation whatsoever, and their absences have been cited as a flaw in the game's roster. In addition, this game was released a year after both ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' and ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' premiered and they both are absent as well.

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: At the end of Bubbles' story mode, she loses [[CompanionCube Octi]], leaving her alone and scared. Cue none other than Captain K'nuckles showing up to keep her company! Given further context in K'nuckles' own story mode, as he actually [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold took time out of his search for Candied Island to comfort her]] until Buttercup found her again.

* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: The game received a lot of flak for it being the same as ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros.'' The game included the following from ''Smash'': the damage percentage, the lives, the charge up attacks, the assist item, and the story mode that involves an evil overlord that goes around causing chaos and destruction and gathers the villains to destroy the heroes with the only exception being the online content.

* CriticalDissonance: Critics hate how similar it is to ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros''. Fans love the game to the point of it [[http://smashboards.com/threads/cartoon-network-punch-time-explosion-xl.315535/ having a minor competitive scene.]]

** The game was released on both the Wii and [=3DS=]. A few years later, Nintendo would do the same thing with Smash 4, though for the Wii U instead of the Wii.
** A lot of elements of this game seem to predict elements of ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.'' Mac & Bloo's neutral special is the same as Ryu's, the 2nd Foster's stage is reminiscent of the VideoGame/TomodachiLife stage, both Captain Planet and Blossom's neutral special are similar to Kirby's Ice Breath custom move, etc...
** In this game, there's a meter on the bottom of your character's portrait and stock count that you have to fill to use your LimitBreak. VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate has a feature that includes a Final Smash meter.
** The story mode begins with an evil creature eradicating most of the Cartoon Network characters and controlling dark {{Empty Shell}}s of themselves with the only survivor being Ben 10. The World of Light mode in VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate starts off with Kirby being the only survivor after a evil deity kills off every playable character and creates shadowy {{Empty Shell}}s of them. Humorously, Ben's middle name is Kirby.

** In ''XL'', HIM, the FinalBoss of Arcade Mode, qualifies as this, considering he comes after [[ThatOneLevel the 3 Vs. 1 level]].

* DemonicSpiders: The Spacenutboogies from ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'' are the strongest enemies in the game, and they constantly have temper tantrum shockwave attacks.

** The "[[Anime/DragonBallZ It's Over 9000!]]" achievement may seem random, or even a bit out of place at first glance. But then you realize that the Dragon Ball anime has actually aired on Cartoon Network multiple times before, more specifically on the Creator/{{Toonami}} block. So the reference is all the more appropriate.

* GoddamnBats: Many, if not all the enemies can knock you back into places you do not want to go.

* SequelDisplacement: A variation: due to the UpdatedRerelease on consoles coming less than a year after the original [=3DS=] version, most people don't even know said [=3DS=] version exists.

* ThatOneLevel: God help you if you happen to get the fight against both Bens and Kevin in Arcade Mode... the 3 Vs. 1 level is always difficult, but the ''WesternAnimation/Ben10'' one is the hardest.
