YMMV: Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony
  • Artifact Title: Inverted, the documentary was originally just called "Bronycon: The Documentary" before having it's name changed to appeal to a wider audience. Still, Bronycon still seems to be the subject matter of the documentary as nearly all the individual fans are going to the con as well as featuring numerous interview with convention guests.
  • Broken Base: Many fans of the show were disappointed over how the documentary spend less focus on the history of the MLP franchise and the fandom as well as it's problem and the culture and more on individual fans and their experiences going to the Brony Con convention.
    • Further split by the fact that some questioning if it was too early for the bronies to have their own documentary or even a documentary period.
  • Cowboy Bebop at His Computer: "Let's Go and Meet the Bronies" has de Lancie refer to My Little Pony Tales as generation 2. Depending on whether or not you're a fan of the toyline first and the animated series second. Fans of the animated series consider "My Little Pony Tales" G2, while for toy fans "My Little Pony Tales" is an Alternate Continuity of G1 and therefore is referred to G1.5.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: de Lancie's song during the animation is a parody of the song, 'My Eyes Are Fully Open', from Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things:
    • There were bonus discs and side projects planned to have a lot of bonus features, including hundreds of hours not used in the documentary. However, this has been cancelled due to low sales caused mostly by rampant pirating. Whoops. (This was made up by great sales on
    • Subverted, the staff is running another donation drive to raise money to pay for editing some of it into another doc called Bronies: The Lost Tapes. It's exceeded it's goal by nearly $5,000 and still has over three weeks to go as of this writing.
