YMMV / Bobby's World

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Is Ted actually the irresponsible manchild everyone thinks he is, or does his family simply not respect him because he's a bachelor, and his job isn't 9-5. It's notable that he acts goofy and silly when Bobby's parents are around, but often becomes far more serious and responsible when he's alone with his nephew (trying to get in touch with Bobby's parents during an unexpectedly long road trip, not allowing Bobby to ride a carnival ride that would likely make him sick, and putting aside playing with Bobby the instant a business associate showed up).
    • Because the show didn't give much characterization to other characters there was no real reason to why Derek is such a Jerkass to Bobby. Was it because he was jealous of him due to him being the baby of the family? Or is he a massive jerk who gets a sick kick out of Bobby's suffering?
  • Ear Worm: The intro music.
    • Fish don't stink! Underwater the fish don't stink!
    • I'm going, I'm going, I'm going on a trip! Train, plane, or taxi cab. All of the choices hip!
    • Animals don't wear underpants!
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Gail Matthius' Martha voice would later be associated with Sarah Palin (and the Tina Fey impression of her).
  • Nightmare Fuel: Derek explaining a tonsillectomy in "Bobby's Big Boo Boo":
Derek: The doctor doesn't take them out, he CUTS 'EM OUT!!
  • The Scrappy: Derek and Kelly, Bobby's older siblings. Well it is justifiable that Bobby can be a pest to them, but still doesn't excuse them.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Abe The Crossing Guard's death at the end of "The Music". Easily the show's saddest moment.
    • Meta example: The death of Tino Insana, the voice of Uncle Ted, on May 31, 2017.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Some of Jackie's attempts to teach Bobby a lesson can come across as cruel. It's all really not her responsibility, she's not an authority figure.
