* CrossesTheLineTwice:
** His stage persona is deliberately played up to be a terrible, narcissistic person who sings about things like Helen Keller being the perfect woman, falling in love with an [[LikesOlderWomen old woman]] and then her three-year-old granddaughter, giving head to Satan, a [[ThoseWackyNazis young boy named Adolf]] with all of the mannerisms of UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler, and a barbeque hosted by the Ku Klux Klan. [[RuleOfFunny But it's okay, because it's hilarious.]] And satirical.
** "Kill Yourself" from ''Make Happy'' milks the BlackComedy and RefugeInAudacity for all its worth. By the end, he's just coming up with more and more outlandish suicide methods.
* EarWorm: Most of his choruses; "Words Words Words", "Oh Bo", "Love Is...", etc. Also, the background music for "Rant".
* EnsembleDarkhorse: [[InsufferableGenius Left Brain]] and [[KindheartedSimpleton Right Brain]], from their eponymous skit/song. Especially [[{{Moe}} Right]] [[{{Adorkable}} Brain]].
* EpicRiff: The piano riffs of "Art is Dead" and "Oh Bo".
** The piano riff of "Art is Dead" has gained some fame by itself, and people were quick to note when Bo began playing it in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdbP6cSFJXs "Playing Piano Gets You Laid"]], a video collab with College Humor.
* GeniusBonus: "What's domain, domain range? / A kid with too much in his pants". In math, domain is expressed by ''x'', while range is expressed by ''y''--[[DontExplainTheJoke the joke here being]] that said person is "XXY", which is the chromosomal makeup for an intersex.
** The more you know about biblical stuff, the funnier and/or more meaningful "Rant" is.
* GrowingTheBeard: Seems to have happened around the time of ''Words Words Words.'' He's expressed embarrassment and dislike of much of his work prior to that period, which was more based around shock value for the sake of shock value rather than making a satirical point.
* HarsherInHindsight: His "racial humor" skit had its effect amplified with the racial unrest that has happened since, with the shootings of several young African-American males as well as the Ferguson riots. Bo really meant it when he said whites and blacks were destined to fight forever.
** Can't Handle This from Make Happy was explicitly a parody of Music/KanyeWest's auto tuned rants, that also show Bo's deteriorating mental state and growing anxiety. Later in 2016, Kanye himself had a breakdown on stage and was hospitalized, making an odd case of ArtImitatesLife
* HilariousInHindsight: In Welcome to Website/YouTube, he says that "most of the best [=YouTubers=] are either Asian or they're gay, so there's an untapped [=YouTube=] celebrity and his name is Creator/GeorgeTakei." While he's not so much specifically a [=YouTube=] celebrity, but since the song's debut, Takei has gained a huge internet following.
* {{Moe}}: Bo himself qualifies sometimes, especially when he plays up the woobieness. Also Right Brain from "Left Brain, Right Brain", who's basically the living embodiment of Bo's {{Adorkable}}ness.
* SignatureSong: "My Whole Family..." was the song that propelled Bo to his first bit of stardom, although "Oh Bo" is seemingly this as of late, considering the unanimous approval and participation it gets at live performances.
* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped:
** His point in "From God's Perspective" that people shouldn't abstain from rape because they think God wants them to -- [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil they should abstain from rape because it's]] ''[[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil wrong]]''.
-->''Pretty obvious, just don't fuckin' rape people. ...Didn't think I had to write that one down for ya.''
* {{Squick}}: The last few lines of "Sunday School":
-->I'm gay for Jesus\\
Fill me with Your grace\\
Pour Your love all over me\\
But please aim away from my face
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: The music video for "Words, Words, Words". '''''Boy howdy.'''''
* TheWoobie: Sometimes portrays himself as this.
