* {{Moe}}: Empress, despite mostly being TheStoic, is absolutely gentle.
* SpecialEffectsFailure: While nowhere near the level of other [[Anime/Berserk2016 recent]] [[Manga/ExArm messes]], the CGI leaves a lot to be desired. With stiff posing and animation and particle effects that don't blend at all with the CelShaded character and vehicle models. This is especially glaring given that the quality of the CGI was one of the 2012 anime's highpoints.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Fans of the 2009 and 2012 animes dislike this show for not continuing the anime's story and instead having a plot similar to the game, as well as for changing Black Rock Shooter, Dead Master, and Strength's designs. And fans of the game dislike it for changing the antagonist from aliens to a human-created AI.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: The booklet from the special edition of the game contains a timeline listing the events prior to the game. However, there is a chronology issue with the event on March 1, 2040, where it initially records Professor Gibson informing UEF about the B★RS project. From the lore of the game, this event should take precedence before any other plot points in the same year, but it conflicts with the event dated on February 2040 where the UEF formally accepts Gibson and his project to their cause. (In simpler terms, the UEF appears to have joined forces with Gibson ''before'' he revealed humanity's SecretWeapon.) The event recorded on March is then corrected to January 3 in the later revisions.

* IronWoobie: The aptly named [[spoiler:Strength, who, after developing emotions, realized the impact of the pain she was taking on from Yuu, was suddenly catapulted by her human counterpart to switch places with her and forced into the real world, had to adjust to the strange new world with no friends until Mato's appearance, and generally had to cope with not really existing to people. She only wants to help Mato and the other girls, but quickly ends up losing Mato to (Insane) Black★Rock Shooter, and when trying to save her and Yuu from a potentially horrible fate, ends up scorned by Yuu herself.]]

* CompleteMonster: In the manga adaptation by TNSK, [[spoiler:[[BigBad White★Rock Shooter]] is the catalyst of [[KillAllHumans mankind's extinction]]. [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Posing as an alien idol singer]], W★RS has herself cloned by a scientist named Gibson while her forces attack the Earth. Gibson makes a failed attempt to kill W★RS after finding out about her [[ImAHumanitarian appetite for her progeny]], prompting W★RS to call for the destruction of the human race. She proceeds to [[OffingTheOffspring kill all but two of the clones]] and beat one of the surviving clones, Nana, before falsely telling her that Gibson never loved any of them. Sensing that the remaining humans have found the final clone, Stella, W★RS orders her enforcers to kill them. She soon [[ResignationsNotAccepted kills two defectors]], along with their new human allies, and plots the destruction of the Earth just to spite a third defector. Afterwards, she forces another enforcer to kill Stella and Nana, promising her death [[YouHaveFailedMe should she fail]] or [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness succeed]]. Confronted by the two surviving clones, W★RS strips Nana, fakes her death, beats Stella to near-death, mutilates her arm, and taunts her by spitting out the apparent remains of Nana. As their fight nears its end, W★RS asks Stella to help her conquer another planet and crush its people's wishes so she can rule over them for the rest of time. * {{Narm}}: Sure, humanity has been nearly wiped out by the aliens, but when we actually get to see that the Armaments (the cannon fodder army of the aliens) look like blocky creatures made out things resembling LEGO bricks, they are no longer that intimidating than what the story tells them to be.

* FoeYay: Gushing about Rock, being touchy-feely with Rock, and talking possessively about Rock are some of Dead's favorite things.
