YMMV / Banjo the Woodpile Cat

  • Ear Worm: Banjo has his own theme song.
  • Narm: Banjo seems either unable to keep his tongue in his mouth or thinks he's a dog, as his tongue is hanging out of his mouth in a lot of different scenes.
  • "Seinfeld" Is Unfunny: As the film was really only made as a testing ground for Don Bluth and his colleagues to see if they could animated something the way they wanted to, it pales in comparison to pretty much everything he made afterwards which had more money and experience, not to mention a larger staff. It doesn't help that many of his faults are also present (over-acting, animals who don't move like normal animals, etc.).
  • Tear Jerker: If the alley scene where Banjo cries under the rain gets you, then you'll be bawling during the scene where Crazy prays to God for Banjo's sake.
  • Values Dissonance: Telling your kid you get you a switch was normal in the 40s and only slightly less so in the 70s, and a kid who ran away from home as a result would be seen as a brat who wouldn't take what was coming to him. Nowadays, it's a perfectly good reason to run away from home.
  • The Woobie: Banjo
    • Jerkass Woobie: He only got into this mess in the first place because he was a brat.
