YMMV / Around the Horn

  • Never Live It Down: Tony and the panelists still like to rib Adande for the infamous "In order to win tournaments, you have to win tournaments" line.
  • Replacement Scrappy:
    • Originally, Tony for Max. Today, not many people seem to remember.
    • While Reali wasn't universally embraced when he first became host, he had a far easier time than Zach Selwyn, who had a brief hosting tenure in June 2004. After becoming a fan favorite on the reality series Dream Job, Selwyn was mooted as a long-term replacement for Tony. However, his sarcastic personality and arbitrary scoring style did not endear him to fans, while the show's panelists weren't fond of him, either. Selwyn soon disappeared from the show (he later joined G4's Attack of the Show! and released several music albums), and aside from occasional vacations, Reali's hosted ever since.
  • The Scrappy:
    • People are not soft about voicing their distaste for Jemele Hill. This stems from the vocal anti-Jemele contingent for her work on ESPN.com, as her penchant for playing the race card for everything does not go over well for everyone. Her detractors got even more vehement in 2017 when she was suspended by ESPN over controversial tweets.
    • People really seem to have distaste for Bill Plaschke, as well.
    • Jay Mariotti (perhaps needless to say) was this long before his 2010 arrest and banishment from ESPN. That ESPN viewers and sports fans largely celebrated his arrest shows how much he was disliked.
  • Tear Jerker: The cast's reaction to John Saunders' death in August 2016. The show devoted an entire segment to Saunders, with Israel Gutierrez and Jackie MacMullan visibly emotional as they shared their memories of him.
