  • Awesome Art: The sprites and animations are quite pretty, thanks to Gainax.
  • Awesome Music: The entire soundtrack, but the intro, Stage 1-1, and Boss Theme 2 stand out.
  • Cheese Strategy: Aside from the Rolling Thunder exploit mentioned below, one tactic players tend to abuse to quickly kill bosses is leveling up Ball O' Fire to its max, and letting its collision damage do the work.
  • Cult Classic: While the game never sold particularly well, it's considered to be an underrated gem.
  • Goddamned Boss: The Stage 7 boss. He's got a heck of a lot of HP, an annoyingly repetitive attack pattern (he only has two actions), and a small vulnerability window.
  • Good Bad Bugs: Thanks to the way the game angles the lightning shot at full charge, not only does it do far more damage than an uncharged blast, but the rapidly shifting hitbox will multiply the damage if pressed against an enemy. This makes most bosses a joke, if you time it properly.
  • Narm: The Stage 4 boss would be pretty creepy, as it's some kind of skinless wyvern... but its honking vocalizations make it silly and almost kind of cute.
  • Retroactive Recognition: The game was made by a pre-Neon Genesis Evangelion Studio Gainax.
