  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • When Richard contemplates it would be better for him and Tami to never meet and thus saving her from the ordeal, it's actually Tami thinking this aloud and then convincing herself it was still worth it. This makes her crying all that stronger.
    • Though Richard is supposedly badly injured and all but immobilised, he never appears to budge from his lying pose, for weeks, not even for bed sores, to sit up, or to look at another part of the boat. He doesn't actively help with things he could do - like calculations, as he is seen doing in flashback. He never asks for a book to read or a pencil and paper. When Tami jumps overboard to untangle the rudder and then to fish, 'Richard' is remarkably unconcerned that she's disappearing from his sight with only a thin rope tied around her for many minutes. Lastly, Tami never adds a second space next to his in the bed to lie in. Because... it's actually her bed.
    • Tami listing the amount of food they have and it's said it won't last them a week. It lasts a little longer because of there only being one person to feed.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The film is based on the true story of Tami Oldham,in which she and her fiancé Richard Sharp were caught in Hurricane Raymond and Richard sadly got swept overboard to his death. The film faced controversy when it appeared the filmmakers rewrote history, by having Richard survive. However, with the reveal of the Richard Sharp that seemingly "survived" was actually a hallucination and the real Richard really did die has made this controversy die down thanks to the twist.
  • Special Effect Failure: The freight ship. Probably intentional, since it's just a hallucination and behaving like no real ship would.
  • Tear Jerker: Nearly everything, but particularly when Tami tells Richard she has to let him go. It sounds like she's about to perform a Mercy Kill, until she sits up and we see that his bed is empty, revealing that he was never there to begin with.
