Eve Torres (born Eve Marie Torres on August 21, 1984 in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in/billed from Denver, Colorado) is a female American professional wrestler who has competed exclusively in WWE and is currently on the Raw brand. She won the final Diva Search competition in 2007 and was featured as a backstage interviewer before finally stepping into the ring in 2009. She has the distinction of being the first Diva Search winner to win a title, the Divas Championship, and has held it a record breaking three times. She quit the WWE in 2013 in a fit of rage after losing the Diva's Championship on Raw's 20th Anniversary.
Accidental Kiss: It seemed like it when Cena rescued Eve from Kane and the ambulance and she was caught up in the moment, not realizing Zack had seen everything. Subverted big time when she reveals the week after she'd been using Zack and trying to reel in the "big fish" to get some big-time notoriety.
Action Girl: Her wrestling ability might be debatable, but she is an instructor of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in real life, and is definitely not someone you want to make angry.
She legitimately choked out Matt Hardy on one occasion, so then there's that...
Badass Family: She's married into one, wedding Rener Gracie of the legendary Gracie brazilian jujitsu family.
Bait and Switch: One interview with Triple H had him strangely fixated on something on her chest area. He remarked that they were round, perfectly shaped and his mom had a set just like them. Eve replied that yes they were real and Triple H eagerly reached out to touch the pearls around her neck.
Of course, this is Triple freaking H we're talking about, so even that turned into a case of Don't Explain the Joke. note For those of you who still don't get it... Eve was wearing a pearl necklace.]]
Beauty Is Bad: Has become a good in-ring wrestler but is still disliked by a vast amount of fans purely for her "modelling career" which consists of a few photo shoots and nothing else. This may have contributed to how hard the crowd jumped against Eve the minute she kissed Cena on 2/13/12.
Distressed Damsel: Along with Zack Ryder, was one of the people Kane targeted, in his quest to make Cena embrace the hate. Unlike with Zack, whom he has put out of action for nearly a month, all Kane did was a lot of stalking when it came to Eve.
Tried pulling this, along with the Crocodile Tears ploy, to make John Cena pity and comfort her after his verbal tirade against her for ostracizing him from Zack. Almost worked, but going for the kiss turned him off pretty quickly.
Embarrassing Nickname: "Hoeski", bestowed on her by John Cena and the fans chant it whenever they see her. In real life she's probably thrilled about it considering hardly any heels in WWE can get reactions these days. "Eve Whorres" is another popular one.
Epic Fail: Her one spot in the 10 diva tag match at WrestleMania 26 where she tried her flipping senton on Maryse and didn't make contact.
Expy: Her new heel gimmick as John Laurinaitis's "Executive Assistant" is identical to Stacy Keibler's "Miss Hancock" and Brooke Adams's "Miss Tessmacher".
Face-Heel Turn: As of 2/20/2012. Not only was it sudden and unexpected, It literally happened in the first 2½ minutes of the show. What made it even more surprising in historical context. Until earlier this year, Eve and Kelly Kelly were the only two female titlists in WWE in the past 15 years to have never been heels.
Finishing Move: She actually went through a period of trying different finishers out. First she had a handspring into a splash, then her moonsault which she rarely used, an innovated arm bar from the top rope, an incredibly silly headscissors facebuster move and finally settled on the corkscrew neckbreaker.
I Don't Want to Ruin Our Friendship: On the 2/13/12 Raw, she explained to Zack this was the reason she didn't see them in a relationship. He might've been more receptive to the idea if he hadn't seen her kissing Cena after her rescue from Kane.
A lot of this is happening thanks to Teddy Long now that Laurinaitis is gone and he's not forced to be Eve's personal lapdog. The aforementioned drenching happened while she was in some odd dowdy white dress with a huge "Hi, My Name Is EVE" nametag on the front (a call back to when she forced Teddy to wear a similar nametag and a maid's uniform a few weeks back.)
Double Standard: People complained that it was disrespectful to Eve and yet they were A-okay with her kneeing Ryder in the groin after weeks of emotional manipulation, and never getting comeuppance for it.
Mood Whiplash: Oh, boy. She started off the 2/20/12 Raw by saying she was only using Zack Ryder for attention and was now gonna cast him aside now that she had hooked "The Big Fish." This turned the entire WWE against her nearly instantly. However, a little later, while Cena (who has something of a Jerk Sue reputation) is verbally tearing her apart, she collapses into a violently crying heap in the middle of the ring, and it's a little uncomfortable to watch.
Rage Quit: After losing the Diva's Championship on Raw's 20th Anniversary, she promptly left the WWE (in storyline only - in real life, she had given her notice to the company and was leaving to marry one of the Gracies of MMA fame).
Right Behind Me: On the 2/20/12 episode of Raw she told the Bella Twins how she just used Zack Ryder and how she planned to do the same with John Cena. Guess who was behind her the entire time.
Screwed by the Network: She has the same problem that Kofi Kingston tends to have in that, while she does get pushed, her full potential clearly doesn't get tapped into. Both her title wins had minimal build up and her title match with Beth Phoenix at Survivor Series had no build up on her side.
Sexy Secretary: Had this role when Johnny Laurinaitis was GM. Now that she's the assistant to Booker T, this might come in to play again.
Unsportsmanlike Gloating: When she wins a match, he as a photographer take photos of her, while she's standing over her fallen opponent.
Villainous Breakdown: Was pretty much a sobbing wreck after she tried to "explain" to John why she did why she did. Didn't help any that she decided to do so in the ring and the fact John gave her one big verbal beatdown.
What Could Have Been: After her heel turn, there were rumours of a Kelly Kelly vs Eve match for Wrestle Mania. Another rumour was that the returning Layla would side with Zack Ryder against Eve and a male superstar. Interestingly enough for this trope, both stories did happen but differently. Beth Phoenix and celebrity Maria Menounos were added to make it a tag match for Mania (though Eve and Kelly did have three singles matches on Raw and Superstars). Eve and Layla feuded months after Layla's return after Eve took the Divas' Championship from her (with no males involved).
Also, not long before her departure, she mentioned possibly being the first female lead in WWE's Marine film series. She also around that time appeared on (and won) the NBC reality series Stars Earn Stripes, where celebrities received military training (making it seem like a two-birds-one-stone situation.) Her leaving clearly threw a wrench in that, and although The Marine 4 is still on the schedule for 2014, it's not known if the female Marine concept will stick.
