Western Animation: No Service
Oh my goose down! You're naked in public! What is wrong with you?!
-Daisy, to Donald

No Service is the first season 1 short of the new Mickey Mouse series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the first to air on the Disney Channel while it's the second to be put up on Disney.com.

Mickey and Donald arrive at a beach boardwalk, where they're expecting Minnie and Daisy to meet up with them. Mickey decides to buy lunch so they can surprise the girls with a picnic, but Goofy's Snack Shack has a Dress Code that won't let Mickey and Donald in since Mickey has no shirt and Donald has no shoes. After a game of straws... er, feathers, Donald walks in with Mickey's shoes, shorts and gloves to order the food, but that leaves Mickey out in the nude. Can Mickey avoid being seen by the time Donald finishes?

Contains examples of:

  • Behind a Stick: How Mickey hides from Minnie and Daisy. Taken Up to Eleven when he walks behind a wrought iron fence with only his ears and feet visible.
  • Drawing Straws: Or rather, feathers.
  • Dress Code: Of the "No shirts, no shoes, no service" variety.
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: Mickey saved himself from this when he regained his clothes (and got Donald's as well). Donald ended the episode being chased by one of those squads.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: Aside from the fact that the very premise involves Mickey forced into being naked in public, there is also a dog urinating on a fire hydrant with a visible urine stream and some background shots show what appear to be topless women lying on the beach.
  • Greasy Spoon: Goofy's Snack Shack.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Pretty much the reason the plot exists.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • Goofy enforces the dress code because he wants to run a "classy establishment." He says this while swatting a bug and flipping food with the same spatula. And at the end when a naked Donald is fleeing from a laughing crowd, he says to himself: "Some people have no class!" while scratching his belly button.
    • Donald after laughing and taunting Mickey says "That's not funny!" when Mickey starts taunting him right back.
  • Jerkass Ball: Mickey, Donald and Goofy for Rule of Funny. Minnie and Daisy were not exactly innocent, either, when they see Donald naked and, feeling offended, walk off with Mickey.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Mickey. And at the end, Donald.
  • Naked People Trapped Outside: Mickey, throughout most of this short.
  • Oh Crap Smile: Donald once he realized the I.D. he gave Goofy was Mickey's.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Nice Guy Goofy is a bit grumpy in this short. He also doesn't seem to recognize Mickey or Donald. Near the end, Minnie and Daisy show that they are no angels either.
    • Though this is probably just a case of Goofy receiving the "George Geef" treatment by him getting cast in random roles. Plus, Goofy often was grumpy in some of his classic shorts, too, especially in the '40s, '50s and '60s ones (i.e., "Motor Mania", in which Goofy plays an average suburbanite who is an entirely different person once behind the wheel).
    • Also a case of Mean Character, Nice Actor.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: When Goofy sees that Donald's I.D. is really Mickey's, he angrily says to him, "That. Ain't. You.", and kicks him out.
  • Shout-Out: The letters "DMV" on Mickey's I.D. are written in a font called "Started by a Mouse", which is the same font used primarily for Disneyland.
  • Title Drop
  • Troll: Donald made every effort to make Mickey feel embarrassed when he was naked.
Donald (pointing to Goofy toasting hamburger buns on the grill, but directing his comment at Mickey hiding outside): Look at those hot buns!
Goofy: Yeah! I like to rub those buns with olive oil so's they don't get burned.
Mickey (to Donald): You're a riot.
  • Unsound Effect: When Mickey notices that he's naked, he runs off-screen with a "Streak" visual sound effect.
  • Urine Trouble: One of the things Mickey hides behind to conceal his nudity is a dog. He ends up having to change hiding places when the dog starts to leave its mark on a hydrant.
