Hyde and Go Tweet is a 1960 Merrie Melodies short directed by Friz Freleng starring Sylvester the Cat and Tweety Bird. It would be the third Looney Tunes short directed by Freleng to be based on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde following Dr. Jerkyl's Hide (which also starred Sylvester) and Hyde and Hare (which featured Bugs Bunny).

Tweety flies into the office of Dr. Jekyll. When Sylvester pursues him, he hides in the Hyde Formula that Jekyll created. The result is the normally innocent Tweety turning into a monster and Sylvester needing to run away from the now monstrous bird. Tweety changing back to his normal self isn’t going to help the puddy tat in this chase.

This short appeared in Daffy Duck's Quackbusters with new animation showing Sylvester in Daffy’s office to tie in with that film’s overarching story. It also showed up (combined with Hyde and Hare) in Bugs Bunny's Howl-oween.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Pun: Early on, when Tweety is trying to evade Sylvester, he says to himself that he had better "hide"... and promptly jumps into a big bottle of the Hyde Formula, thus sparking his transformation into his new beastly form.
  • All Just a Dream: Everything Sylvester went through regarding the monster Tweety was just a nightmare. Not that it stops him from thinking the nightmare is about to become a reality when he sees Tweety after waking up.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: In contrast to his normal form, Tweety’s monstrous transformation gives him bigger eyebrows.
  • Bowdlerization: Sylvester's line “I’ll jump! I’ve got a choice?” was removed from the ABC broadcast of this short on The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show due to implications of suicide.
  • Evil Laugh: After the Hyde Formula has turned him into a monster, Tweety lets out some loud cackling while in that form. This also happens to Dr. Jekyll after turning into Mr. Hyde earlier in the short.
Tweety: Bwahahahahaha! You bad ol' puddy tat!
  • Feathered Fiend: Tweety after drinking the Hyde Formula turns himself into a giant and monstruos version of himself.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: When Tweety seemingly reverts back to normal, Sylvester locks the two of them in and throws the key out the window so that Tweety can't get out and "that goon" can't get in. Lo and behold, Tweety transforms again, and Sylvester is unable to unlock the door and escape.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Thanks to the Hyde Formula, Tweety grows into a monstrous bird that torments Sylvester, resulting in a reversal of the typical roles Tweety and Sylvester play whenever the former pursues the latter as a monster.
  • Impact Silhouette: Sylvester runs through a brick wall in a panic after waking up, seeing Tweety, and thinking the little bird will turn into a monster and pursue him.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: Being a version of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story (complete with a brief appearance by the aforementioned characters at the start of the short), it’s bound to happen. The sweet Tweety ends up hiding in the Hyde Formula bottle, turning him into a psychotic, hulking monster at random and giving Sylvester plenty of trouble in the process.
  • No Escape but Down: While being pursued by the monster Tweety, Sylvester comes across an open window and decides to jump out in order to escape. However, he ends up caught by the bird monster, who is able to fly for a bit before reverting back to normal Tweety and being unable to carry Sylvester.
  • Oh, Crap!: Sylvester gets plenty of these reactions when seeing the monstrous Tweety. His first time seeing the transformation results in Sylvester literally falling into pieces before trying to run away.
  • Psycho Serum: The aforementioned Hyde formula, created by Dr. Jekyll, that turns anyone who drinks it into a cackling, monstrous version of themselves.
  • Pun-Based Title: Like many other Looney Tunes shorts before and after it, with this particular case being a pun of “hide and go seek”.
  • Swallowed Whole: While Sylvester is attempting to prepare his coveted "Tweety sandwich", Tweety transforms again whilst Sylvester is looking for ingredients, then swallows the cat whole.
Sylvester: Now, for a little seasoning. There's cloves... tch, tabasco sauce... [Tweety transforms] mustard... What? No ketchup? ...Well, I guess I'll just have to eat you without keeeETCH-! [Tweety swallows him]
