The second spinoff of WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer, starring an older, tween Dora and her new friends, the "Explorer Girls": Alana, Naiya, Emma and Kate.

The first episode premiered on August 7, 2011, on Creator/NickJr It featured Dora and the Explorer Girls having to search for and find the tickets for a Music/Shakira concert after Alana accidentally leaves her jacket in the donation bag she brought.

A TV series based on the movie, Dora and Friends: Into the City, premiered in 2014, which is basically the Explorer Girls with minor outfit upgrades and a new male main character named Pablo.

* AndKnowingIsHalfTheBattle: The premiere ends with a segment like this, based on the premiere's theme of being helpful and working together. Boots makes a special appearance during this segment. Whether or not this is to happen OnceAnEpisode remains to be seen.
* AnimatedSeries
* TheArtifact: Almost nothing from the original Dora is retained in this series.
* AscendedExtra: Pablo originally appeared as a guest character in 3 episodes of the original Dora the Explorer-series. In this series he has been upgraded to a main character.
* Balloonacy: Happens in the premiere, with a hot air ballon parade float.
* BilingualBonus
* Blonde, Brunettes, Redhead
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Yep. They still do it.
* ContinuityNod: Dora has memories of her childhood with Boots while talking about maps.
* CoversAlwaysLie: Several promotional artworks of Dora featured her wearing a purple headband with her everyday outfit. In the show however, she doesn't wear it.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** In 2009 tweenage Dora appeared in a main series episode. She's noticeably more similar to her younger version. By 2012 they decided to remove the adventure aspects and Boots is mostly gone; he's also missing his polo shirt.
** In The City has a noticeable animation devolution from Explorer Girls and is now in the style of the main series.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: The girls have to chase their concert tickets all over the city. It pays off big time in the end, though.
* EdutainmentShow
* EverythingTalks: Actually averted.
* FantasyHelmetEnforcement: Dora still puts a helmet on whenever she rides a bike, but now that she's in a big city, she now endorses "following the rules of the road".
* FiveManBand
** TheLeader: Dora.
** TheLancer: Kate.
** TheSmartGuy: Naiya.
** TheBigGuy: Alana.
** TheChick: Emma.
** TheSixthRanger: Pablo in the tv-series.
* FiveTokenBand: The Explorer Girls.
* Free Range Tweens: Dora's parents still let her go off on her own. In a large city.
* FriendToAllLivingThings
* GratuitousSpanish: It is Dora, after all.
* GirlinessUpgrade: Big time. Think Franchise/Bratz meets WesternAnimation/WinxClub without the magic.
* GrowingUpSucks: Debatably averted. Dora still very much adventures; she just simply has more friends and a new place to explore.
* TheMusical: The premiere. It was even billed as a "musical adventure" in the ads.
* NoAntagonist: There doesn't seem to be any sort of villain, since Swiper is no longer part of the show. Averted in the spin-off series, however, where some of the episodes' plots have antagonistic individuals, even if they're aren't outright villainous, including Swiper as of Season 2.
* NotAllowedToGrowUp: Boots and Jaguar have apparently barely aged despite Dora aging a few years. In the original series it was shown that animals aged more-or-less according to their lifespans, which is why Sniper was elderly when Boots was still a child, so Jaguar's lack of aging is even more noticeable.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: The premiere constantly beats viewers over the head with "doing things together" and how important friends are.
* TheOneGuy: Pablo is the only boy among Dora's friends.
* PutOnABus: Every non-human character from the original series, except Boots, who makes a special appearance at the end of the premiere.
** TheBusCameBack: Boots and even Swiper both make appearances during a couple of Season 2 episodes. Loads of other original series characters cameo along with them, as well.
* SesameStreetCred: Music/Shakira guest stars AsHerself in the premiere.
* SpinOff
* TakeYourTime: Averted once again.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction
* ViewersAreGoldfish: You guessed it, averted. (But less frequent in Into the City).
* WhereTheHellIsSpringfield: Dora has moved from her home in the rain forest to a new home in a CityWithNoName.
