''[[http://yafgc.net/ Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic]]'' is a daily webcomic by Rich Morris, following the lives and (mis)adventures of the ''[[TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons D&D]]'' monsters of the Black Mountain, and their interactions with the rest of the world. As the comic went on, more and more characters got added to the cast, and now plenty of "good" humans and other characters living outside of Black Mountain get their own arcs as well.

Notable for its sense of humour, sketch-like yet very nice artwork, and complex character development and interaction.

A word of warning for those who browse Wiki/TVTropes at work (you slackers) -- it has some {{NSFW}} elements, mostly casual nudity.

Has a [[Characters/YetAnotherFantasyGamerComic character sheet]], which is in need of ''much'' love.

----
!!Tropes:

* ActionMom: Mrs Bloodhand is by far the best fighter around.
* AffablyEvil
* AgonyOfTheFeet: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1398-angry-god/ Yes, it can happen even to a god.]]
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Actually, LawfulEvil. It's parodied in the school mini-arc when a young gnoll gets scolded by the teacher for being ''good'' in class.
* AmazonBrigade: Bound to show up any time the drow get angry... or bored... or just feel like killing and maiming some people.
* AnyoneCanDie: Very apparent, especially in the Lost Valley arc, with a couple characters, including a half-brother to one of the main character's love interest being offed fairly early into the storyline.
* AnythingThatMoves: Charlotte
* ArbitrarySkepticism: "[[http://yafgc.net/?id=1961 My place is haunted by 16 ghosts and they all say there n'aint no vampires!]]"
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: From [[spoiler:Arachne]] to [[spoiler:Lewstrom]] of all people.
-->'''[[spoiler:Arachne]]:''' Must feel good, doesn't it? [[spoiler:After all these centuries,]]] to finally have what you've always wanted. I mean, it is, right? What you've always wanted. [[spoiler:To be king of the dead. Supreme ruler of all...]] That's why you [[spoiler:became a lich,]] right?\\
'''[[spoiler:Lewstrom]]:''' I don't... [[HeelRealization I don't remember.]]
* ArrangedMarriage: Multiple instances, including Glon and his wives.
* ArtShift: Twice.
** [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0674-the-fellowship-of-the-stick/ Strip #674]] is done in [[StickFigureComic Stick Figure Style]] as a {{homage}} to ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick''.
** [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1076-mystery/ Strip #1076]] shifts to medieval tapestry along with rhyming narration, as a {{homage}} to Ed Gorey and the theme song of the TV show ''Mystery!''
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Satyrs, and Cadugan's deertaur friend Buck.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Both Gren and Bob and Clover and Eric.
* BagOfKidnapping: Clover was caught this way once.
* BarredFromTheAfterlife
** The gods of Man and the gods of [[OurOrcsAreDifferent Orc]] couldn't agree on who should claim Glon the [[HalfHumanHybrid half-orc]], and he convinced them to send him back to life so he could determine which of his two heritages was his "true" one.
** Glon's dying human father asked to be buried with three grave coins, instead of the usual two. This means that he was technically denied a proper burial, and therefore has an excuse to stick around as a ghost.
* BeingEvilSucks: Lewie [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0753-big-brother-aint-listening/ never wanted to be evil]], and he is cursed for that with bad luck. [[EvilFeelsGood The rest of the cast, however...]]
* BerserkButton: Several characters have these:
** Do not harm, attempt to harm or insult Glon in front of his mother;
** Do not harm, attempt to harm or insult any member of Glon's family where he can hear you;
** Do not steal from Arachne;
** Do not mess with Gren, it upsets Bob the Beholder;
** Do not sacrifice scorpii blood to Lolth!!! She really doesn't like the taste.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Bob is, all things considered, a fairly nice guy for an evil creature, and rarely causes much trouble beyond satisfying his own libido. That said, you still shouldn't forget on of the cardinal rules of adventuring: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0250-bob-let-loose/ Never,]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0263-petrified-pirate/ ever,]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0356-looks-can-kill/ under]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0622-forest-fight/ any]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0635-behold/ circumstances,]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0653-wallstoned/ piss]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0684-ahem-ahem-hello-helllooooo/ off]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0714-oh-yeah-you-guys/ a]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1195-the-return-of-the-bob/ beholder!]]
* BigDamnHeroes / VillainousRescue: [[spoiler:Lewie, of all people, saves everyone from Jone.]]
* BlackComedy: Inevitable when the main protagonists in a comedy strip are bad guys; there's a ''lot'' of humor derived from situations that would in real life be anything but funny. Still, the trope isn't nearly as omnipresent as you might think.
* BoringInvincibleHero: Rich must have a crush on Maula Bloodhand. When she shows up, the fight's over.
* BrickJoke: In 2009's AprilFools strip, Arachne [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1039-arachne-who/ steals a time-traveling car]] for a few moments. A year later, we find out [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1404-what-she-figured-would-happen/ what she figured would happen.]]
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Arachne [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0167-do-i-have-to-poke-you-in-the-eye/ has troubles remembering]] princess Dewcup. Her brother Glitterbranch [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0955-glitterbranch-and-arachne-2/ has to get more specific]], too.
* TheCameo
** The only person who understands Cap'n Fang is [[WebAnimation/HomestarRunner Homsar]].
** In a later strip, [[Series/DoctorWho the Ninth Doctor]] makes a wrong turn from ''Webcomic/The10Doctors''. Arachne briefly steals his clothes and Drax's car.
** Appears that Han Solo shows up [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0690-most-easily-2/ for a few strips]]. He's referred to as "Hans".
** Sam the Eagle (from ''Series/TheMuppetShow'') is one of the kenku.
** The ''American Idol'' judges (Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell era) are [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1037-so-you-think-youre-a-black-mountain-idol/ the judges for the Black Mountain bardic competition.]] Sort of.
** The Series/GhostHunters show up [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0833-grant-you-a-favour/ starting in #833]] to debunk the haunting of Grayfort castle.
** And, [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1308-the-sorceress-assistant/ would you believe it]], Disney/MickeyMouse??
** Nitrine (accompanied by Griplen, Graplen and Groplen) from ''Webcomic/FlakyPastry'' makes an appearance [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1711 in #1711.]]
** [[Literature/{{Discworld}} Cohen the Barbarian]] [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1799 in strip #1799.]]
** And the ''Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000'' crew [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1673 in strip #1673.]]
* TheCaptain: Captain Safana
* CastingCouch: Wolf has absolutely no problem [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0077-clever-like-the-wolf/ with the concept of sleeping your way up]]. It's how he got the position he has.
* CharacterDevelopment
* TheChosenOne: The high wizard of Northrealm places [[KingArthur an axe in a stone]] to find who will be the next king. He is [[GoneHorriblyRight horrified]] to learn that [[spoiler: it is ''Captain Fang'' who manages to pull the axe from the stone.]] To cover up his folly, [[spoiler: he brainwashes Runt into thinking he's the one who pulled the axe out instead.]]
** Subverted in that [[JustIgnoreIt no one wanted to choose the king with this method anyway,]] and they just went to selecting a king with a tourney.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}
** Cap'n Fang. "My sandbox is crunchy."
** Most kobolds seem to have some of these traits, though none as bad as Fang.
* CoincidentalDodge: Princess Goldie escapes a crossbow bolt by leaning to pet a squirrel.
* ComedicSociopathy: Well, most of the protaonists are members of canonically "evil" races, so...
* ComedicUnderwearExposure: In [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0233-clover-does-her-thing/ "Clover Does Her Thing]], although underwear tends to be a rarity in this comic (for both [[GoingCommando men]] and [[VaporWear women]]).
* ComicTrio: Chimera manages to be this all by himself. The lion head is the leader, the dragon head is the idiot, and the goat head is the complainer.
* ContinuityNod: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1063-ill-sing-you-one-oh/ Strip #1063]] contains one in each of its 8 panels... in 8 of its 9 lines. {{Justified|Trope}} as it is a contest of bards, and bard...ing, aside of musical talent, is also a matter of spreading news with new songs. Thus each contestant presents a recent song of fairly recent exciting tales... Experienced first-hand by the cast of the comic of course.
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Demonstrated in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0574-not-the-blood-of-coritanus/ "Not the Blood of Coritanus"]], where the bard's polite request to a monster succeeds after her quest companions get killed when attacking the beast.
* CuddleBug: Cuddles, the Cloaker.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: And one that [[spoiler: Lewstrom]] had almost forgotten.
* DefeatByModesty: In [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0260-anything-you-can-do/ "Anything You Can Do"]], Giovanna defeats King Eric by cutting the belt of his pants. Hey, he started it, you can't slice at a lady's corset and expect no retaliation.
* DemBones: King Lewie and his minions.
* DidIJustSayThatOutLoud: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0456-an-hyeeshas-crime/ Queen Hyeesha lets the plan slip]].
* DidTheyOrDidntThey: Wolf and Glon. [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0416-the-adult-adventures-of-wolf-and-glon/ No.]] [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0423-cold-shoulder-warm-backside/ Seriously.]]
* DidYouJustHaveSex: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0706-lucas-lightens-up/ The entire crew could see it]].
* DidntThinkThisThrough: A vampire tries to turn a cyclops, but didn't take into account [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0815-big-vic/ just how much blood he had.]]
* DisneyCreaturesOfTheFarce: Princess Goldie, as a parody of PrincessClassic, was bound [[http://yafgc.net/?id=2219 to have such a moment.]]
* DistractedByTheSexy: Tends to happen a lot to Charlotte and Arachne... as well as quite a few other characters.
* TheDitz: Charlotte, and also [[spoiler:Lolth]].
* DoesNotLikeMen: Arachne, along with most other drow, publicly professes to look down on men and treat them as dirt. In private, though, [[CovertPervert she has a slightly different opinion.]]
* TheDrunkenSailor: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0692-coronoas-all-round/ Cap'n Corona]] of the ''[[http://yafgc.net/comic/0694-belcome-award/ Crown Jewel]]'' keeps himself constantly so drunk he [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0702-questioning-the-rival/ mentally matches Fang]].
* EarlyBirdCameo: The Royal Family of Umbril showed up as C-listers in ''Turg's Saga'', over a thousand strips prior to ''Reflections In The Sand.''
* {{Elfeminate}}: Only the drow are on the safe side.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Apparently, [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0548-bard-to-port/ Thomas the Bard is quite popular]].
* EvilIsHammy: Even [[spoiler: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0592-the-art-of-villaininess/ Lewie's ring thought so]].]]
-->'''Ring:''' (''thought'') Great. Ham and cheese. Am I the only one who can smell it?
* {{Expy}}: "[[http://yafgc.net/?id=1965 Me? A vampire?]] ''[[Film/ThePrincessBride Inconceivable!]]''
* FacePalm:
** Throughout the comic. Captain Fang is the main inspirator.
** Done on an epic, royal level [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0561-the-kings-other-epiphany/ when King Eric realizes who he'd want to marry]].
* {{Fanservice}}: Lots and lots of it; for both genders. Characters tend to lose their clothes a lot, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, and if they don't, there's a fair amount of ClothingDamage happening.
* TheFool: Fang apparently haven't a slightest idea what he's doing, but is ludicrously lucky, so usually he wins -- and even when not, still manages to survive unharmed.
* FullFrontalAssault: [[spoiler:Charlotte]], given that she was walked in on post-coitus.
* FunWithAcronyms: Glon is accepted into The '''S'''tunties and '''H'''alfbreeds '''I'''nfantry '''T'''eam.
* GenderBender: Which leads, in the case of Cadugan, to AttractiveBentGender.
* GenderEqualsBreed: Averted with Clover and Eric's son, who is all halfling even though he has a human dad. See HalfHumanHybrid for an explanation.
* GenderFlip:
** The [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0366-one-year-today/ one year anniversary strip]] is a GenderFlip of the [[http://yafgc.net/comic/bob-meets-gren/ first strip]]. Well, except for the ending.
** [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1411-tairy-fail-little-red-riding-turncoat/ Strip #1411]] is a gender flip of ''Little Red Riding Hood''... also with a twist ending.
* GeniusDitz:
** Bob isn't terribly bright and is easily DistractedByTheSexy, but he's a very competent fighter, especially where Gren is involved.
** It's not entirely clear whether Captain Fang is this or just [[BornLucky incredibly lucky,]] but he manages to do pretty well for himself all the same.
* GenreSavvy: Several goblins notice the Franchise/DisneyPrincess {{Expy}} attracting wildlife [[DisneyCreaturesOfTheFarce while spontaneously bursting into song.]] Rather than stop her, they pick off the animals for easy food.
* GilliganCut: Lucas suggests to Cadugan that he'd disguise as a woman to infiltrate Jone's camp, since being a half-elf he's the most androgynous of the two. Cadugan glares. Cut to Lucas in drag.
* GoGoEnslavement: Seems to be standard for Drow Males, or slaves of the drow in general. Clothes are a privilege.
* GroinAttack:
** Used by Giovanna in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0256-shoulda-brought-a-codpiece/ "Shoulda Brought a Codpiece"]].
** Threatened by the Queen of the Drow on Wolf in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0372-a-secret-assignment-and-an-overt-warning/ "A Secret Assignment and an Overt Warning"]].
** And by Arachne of a big gladiator in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0435-so-much-for-spartaaaaaaa/ "So Much for SPARTAAAAAAA"]].
* HalfHumanHybrid: Most notably Glon and Jone, but also Cadugan and Taidor. Clover and Eric's son is just a halfling. In YAFGC universe there are several groups of species that can interbreed and the offspring will be a fullblooded member of one of them. These incude human/halfling, goblin/hobgoblin, hobgoblin/bugbear, gnoll/flind and others. The author will write pages and pages of details about the subject if asked.
* HaveYouTriedNotBeingAMonster: All but name-dropped [[http://www.yafgc.net/?id=1682 in strip #1682]].
* HeelRealization: Hell of a thing for a self-admitted evil character, but [[spoiler: Lewstrom finally remembered why he wanted to become a Lich in the first place... and realized he had been manipulated by Kala for all this time.]] Suffice it to say, he [[TheDogBitesBack doesn't take it well.]]
* HereThereBeDragons: Here there be "[[http://yafgc.net/comic/0471-the-tomb-of-temshutep/ a deadly labyrinth filled with creatures most foul]]"
* HeroismIncentive: In strip 1950 (NSFW), the halflings traveling with the Elf maiden aren't too happy about diving into the ocean... until they see the topless Sea-Elves waving to them.
* HisAndHers: A pair of Orcs do it with [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0104-mrs-bloodhand-helps-out/ their swords]].
* {{Homage}}: The entire "Lich of the Rings" arc is a tribute/parody of ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings''.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler: The same crystal that allowed Kala to manifest was also used to bring Lolth into the world, and after Lewie realized she had manipulated him, Kala no longer had Lewie's faith to protect her from Lolth's predations.]]
* HotSkittyOnWailordAction: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0485-turg-wins/ Turg and the Sphinx.]] [[TheBigGuy Turg]] is the Skitty in this case, oddly enough. He lampshades it in response to Glon's understandable befuddlement:
-->'''Glon:''' But she's... so... and ''you're''... If you ever wanted to... how would you...???\\
'''Turg:''' There is magic in our world, Glon. ''Anything'' is possible. And in [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1506 strip #1506]], we see exactly how it works. And the Sphinx is [[spoiler:pregnant]] -- [[{{Squee}} daawwwww]].
* HotTeacher: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1424-the-popular-class/ Miss Steatoda, Hot Drow Teacher.]]
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Though Eric isn't particularly huge for a human, he's twice as tall as Clover.
* HumanMail: Charlotte, after one too many [[TheMillstone millstone]] moments, is [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0995-drow-fates-2/ packed into a wooden crate and shipped off as a slave.]]
* HypocriticalHumor: [[DoesNotLikeMen Arachne]] ''hates'' when [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0007-almost-helpful/ people's prejudice stands in the way of love]].
* IceCreamKoan: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/2664-wise-words-in-mouths-of-fools-do-oft-themselves-belie/ What]] ''[[http://yafgc.net/comic/2665-what-you-said/ is]]'' [[http://yafgc.net/comic/2666-okay-sure/ it]] with [[CloudCuckoolander kobolds?]]
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Seems to be how Lucas views his relationship with Cadugan. When his father ([[OurGhostsAreDifferent 's ghost]]) is shocked that Lucas is sleeping with a man, he explains -- "You want to know if I like boys. I don't know. I like ''that'' boy."
* IgnoredEpiphany: Charlotte in [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1845 strip #1845]].
-->'''Charlotte:''' Even trying to sate my old hungers, I couldn't shake my feelings for Lotharia. And then the obvious solution hit me!\\
'''Lucas:''' Release the sacrifices and confess your true feelings to Lotharia?\\
'''Charlotte:''' No! Carnal excess! More sacrifices!
* ImprovisedWeapon: Gadgia decapitates several [[BigCreepyCrawlies Gi-Ants]] [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1758 with a CLOAK.]]
-->'''Gadgia:''' A ''true'' orc is ''never'' unarmed.
* InsultBackfire: Wolf [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0077-clever-like-the-wolf/ have a good answer to the questions]] about the place of a male warrior in a matriarchy.
* InterspeciesRomance: To the point where it's easier to count the exceptions to this trope than the ones that play it straight. Hell, the comic started out with a romance between ''a goblin and a beholder.''
* JawDrop:
** Beholders have a pretty large jaw, so when Bob does it, [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0349-say-what/ it's impressive]].
** Lewie the Lich, being mostly a skeleton, can literally [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0635-behold/ drop his jaw to the floor]].
* JeanneDArchetype: [[MeaningfulName Jone Half-Orc]] is an ultimately harshly [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructed]] version.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Lewie the Lich gets a moment of this when he points out to Queen Maula that she needs to stop worrying about her son and start worrying about the ''kingdom''. Maula's reaction is a shocked [[http://yafgc.net/?id=2126 "By the gods...]] ''Lewie'' is right."
* KickTheDog: Just in case you started to think of Jone as a (relatively) innocent bystander in her "army's" slaughter, [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1373-the-righteous-almighty-jone/ there's the random slaughter of one of her devotee]], just for a dagger.
* LiteralGenie: The genie in the ArabianNightsDays story arc. Not out of malice, though, but extreme stupidity.
* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: Even the cast of Black Mountain would count, then you have two kingdoms, a barony, the bards, the pirates, the desert cities, and now we've added a handful of Nordic-esque dragon slayers to the list.
** So much they have an own forum section just for that, with one topic per character... and the overview spawns several pages.
** The author has been so kind as to do a WhereAreTheyNow-style recap. [[http://yafgc.net/comic/2670-there-will-be-a-test-later/ The number of characters and stories contained within this single comic is truly staggering]].
* LovableSexManiac: Most of the evil characters, and a fair few of the good ones. It'd probably be quicker listing all the characters who ''didn'' have some traits of this.
* LoveAtFirstPunch: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0862-manly-yes-and-they-like-it-too/ Lady Adwen]] and [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0885-bonkers/ Sir Catianus]] are rather... evenly... [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0887-stale-mate/ matched]].
* MamaBear:
** ''Never'' mess around with Glon if his mother is even theoretically able to see it, and [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1208-and-thats-why-they-called-on-her/ don't insult him either]].
** Same with threatening to make Jone into a prostitute.
* ManIFeelLikeAWoman: Prince Glitterbranch, turned into a female drow by magic, [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0951-a-steve-martin-moment-2/ can't help it but check the goods.]]
* MarshmallowHell:
** In [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0254-a-face-fulla-charlotte/ "A Face Fulla Charlotte"]]
--->'''Glon:''' It's reeeeeally good to see you, Charlotte!
** Judging by [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0875-bugged-bear/ Aeden's reaction when a bugbear princess does it to him]], the "Hell" part is pretty accurate!
* MasochismTango: Glon [[spoiler: [[http://www.yafgc.net/?id=2180 nearly killed Arachne]]]], a fact [[TooKinkyToTorture which turns her on]].
* MeaningfulName: The Drow tend to have names related to spiders: Anancy[[note]]named after Anansi, the spider god of AfricanMythology[[/note]], Arachne[[note]] named after a character in ClassicalMythology who ended up turned into a spider and where we get the word aracnid[[/note]], Charlotte[[note]] from Literature/CharlottesWeb[[/note]], and Wolf [[note]] a breed of spider[[/note]].
* MisplacedSorrow: When Meegs [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1894 loses her apprentice]], she's apparently inconsolable. Because...
-->'''Meegs:''' (''thinking'') By the gods!!! Now I have to go through that damned apprentice audition process again!!
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: Charlotte initially, "a little bit evil" but mainly TheDitz. [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1858 But not anymore...]]
* TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf: The Mirror of True Reflection.
* MonochromaticEyes
* MonsterAdventurers
* MonsterTown: Black Mountain.
* MsFanservice: The Drow.
* MouthOfSauron: The annoying, insane kobold who follows Jone around, as Jone herself is either mute or simply refuses to speak to anybody.
* MultipleHeadCase: Multipe Cases -- the Chimera, a couple of ettins, but worst of all [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1006-hydra-condriac/ the hydra]].
* MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning: Duke Owen Grayfort convinces the goddess Ch'thier to let him have one final conversation with his sons, Glon and Lucas. In order to ensure he can continue to help Lucas in the afterlife, he tells Lucas to bury him with three coins instead of the traditional two, and proceeds to [[DidYouJustScamCthulhu tell Ch'thier that the third coins made for an "improper burial," and therefore grounds for a haunting!]]
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: Implied in [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1529 this strip]].
* NayTheist: The Drow and the Orcs reject their respective patron gods in the wake of their war.
* NippleAndDimed: The comic does not shy away from showing women's (or men's) nipples.
* NoodleIncident: That BawdySong about "the lady and the sausagemaker". All we know is that it's ''extremely'' IntercourseWithYou.
* NotSoDifferent: Arachne has a [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0045-blurring-aligns/ rather dim view on "good" folk]]. Broch is [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0180-the-evilness-of-good/ even less optimistic than that]].
* NotSoHarmlessVillain:
** Lewie the Lich, who turns out to be a KnightOfCerebus. And managed to pull this the second time, on his return.
** [[spoiler:Charlotte]], once she gets a taste of real power in the Lost Valley arc.
* NowOrNeverKiss: Lucas and Cadugan share a passionate clinch while being charged by Jone.
* NudeNatureDance: Several characters run into some satyrs and nymphs in the woods, and get caught up dancing with them. When Gren decides to take a break, she is surprised to find that she's naked.
* OhCrap: A suitably epic one for the drow queen [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1200-the-agony-of-defeat/ "The Agony of Defeat"]].
* OmnicidalManiac: Jone. The fact that her first victims are men (and jerkass) make the women think she's a defender of their cause.
* OneHeadTaller: Lucas is taller than Cadugan. Its not so much an implication that Lucas is more dominant, but works considering that Lucas has greater rank than Cadugan.
* OurMonstersAreDifferent
* OutWithABang: The last tenant in Gren & Bob's new lair got into the Harpy cave [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0024-single-entendre/ and died of exhaustion]].
* OutdoorBathPeeping: The very first page.
* PantyShot: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0600-kingdom-of-the-dead/ "Kingdom of the Dead"]] -- note that this is the only time Gren actually ''[[VaporWear has]]'' underwear.
* PirateGirl: Giovanna
* ThePowerOfLove: The one thing all of the characters can agree on, good or evil, is that you should protect your loved ones. Although the evil characters try not to show it.
* PrincessClassic:
** Lampshaded, and possibly harpooned, in "The [=DinSea=] Princess" sequence, starting with [[http://www.yafgc.net/?id=2200 strip #2200]].
** Princess Dewcup also starts out with echoes of this model.
* {{Pun}}: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0002-dont-say-it/ Only 2 strips in]], and we get [[SelfDemonstratingArticle a beauty of a pun]].
* PutOnABus: Turg the Minotaur. He's back as of [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1496 comic 1496]].
* RescueRomance: Went both ways in regards to Clover and King Eric.
* RightThroughHisPants: Played straight in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0453-love-political-intrigue-style/ "Love, Political Intrigue Style"]], but averted everywhere else.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0707-cadugans-concerns/ Lucas is right about Cadugan's jealousy.]] We find out later that he's wrong about ''who'' Cadugan was jealous of.
* RightfulKingReturns
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Jone's dealing with the townsfolk that treated her and her mom like crap.
* RulesLawyer: Owen [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0807-rules-lawyer-at-play/ and his family, apparently,]] are quite good at it.
* RunningGag: Clover the Halfling [[spoiler: getting recaptured, stripped naked, and put in a little cage.]]
* SeashellBra: [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1535 Mi]] wears shell top, shell bottom and shell ornament. Of course, as a gen, she's small enough to pull that with normal-sized shells.
%% * SexyCoatFlashing
* ShameIfSomethingHappened: Aside from [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1492 citing the trope's function in the name]], it also hangs a heavy lampshade on it with the last "suggestion".
* SheIsAllGrownUp:
** [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1421-monstolescence/ Sittica]]
** Charlotte, who was somewhat of a midget drow, seems to have acquired some more womanly proportions. Later explained as a likely side effect of the magic in the valley.
** Puberty has been generous to [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1934 King Runtherd]].
* ShoutOut:
** Mostly to other fantasy works, such as ''Literature/LordOfTheRings''.
** But also to other pop culture, like ''Film/{{Tremors}}''in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1135-quakes/ "Quakes"]].
** And more recently ''VideoGame/DungeonKeeper''. See also the Cameos, above.
** Adina sings the intro song to Disney's ''Aladdin'', [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1451 here.]]
** Possibly ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0266-a-little-girl-on-girl/ "A Little Girl on Girl"]]?
** To ''Series/TheMuppetShow'', of all things. One of the numerous sounds produced by the singing of Hu-Hu's people is "Gally-ohh! Hoop! Hoop!"
* SkewedPriorities: Most [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0565-mayor-tollin-explains/ halflings]] know what they want...
* SlasherSmile: Jone's is scary, and Glon [[WhatHaveIBecome scares himself]] with one [[http://yafgc.net/?id=2167 Here.]]
* SlapSlapKiss:
** Lucas and Cadugan start out bickering a lot and infuriating each other, but, inevitably, end up together.
** Lady Adwen and Sir Catianus.
* SleptThroughTheApocalypse: Chimera missed the excitement about Lewie and his rings.
* SmugSnake: The noble who tries to force Jone's mother into prostitution, as well as Kurassa the sorcerer, who literally ''never'' stops smirking.
* SomethingThatBeginsWithBoring
* StealthPun: Why she's called "Jone Half-Orc" becomes far more clear once she gains some followers.
* StraightGay: Cadugan
* StripPoker: In [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0379-butt-betting/ "Butt Betting"]]. The girls win, naturally.
* StupidEvil: Princess Dewcup trying to join the drow [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0158-definitions-of-bad/ got a thing or two mixed up]].
-->'''Goat Head:''' Gotcha. I see your problem. You have confused "bad" meaning "evil" with "bad" meaning "really stupid".\\
'''Dewcup:''' And that is not what I wish to become?\\
'''Goat Head:''' No, you seem to have that one down pat.
* TakeThat: [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1803 The dumbest member of the tribe in Valejo?]] Literature/{{Gor}}.
* TalkativeLoon: Fang
* ThisIsThePartWhere: A satyr needs [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0645-little-beholder-games/ an explanation]] on what to do when faced with a beholder.
* ThisMeansWar: Declared verbatim by Eddie in [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0907-eddies-ultimatum-2/ "Eddie's Ultimatum"]].
* TooKinkyToTorture:
** Torturing a drow involves sticking them in a cage and ''refusing'' to torture them.
** [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1188-teach-me/ "Teach Me"]] says it all, with the ''Dungeon Keeper'' torturess admitting defeat.
* TranquilFury: [[http://yafgc.net/?id=2148 You coming?]].
* TrollBridge
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: PlayedWith, as [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0808-i-dream-of-daddy/ Gron has a "visitation dream" from Owen, combined with a routine one of him as an infant]]. The result unnerves Owen a bit.
* TwoScenesOneDialogue: Both the Fox and the werewolves retelling the history of the kingdom of Shallmar at the same time.
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: A long-time [[http://yafgc.net/?id=2066 running gag]] comes to fruition.
* VaporWear: Underwear seems to be rare in this world, and bras don't seem to exist at all. Many women wear clothes with AbsoluteCleavage that demonstrate this, and those who don't tend to suffer ClothingDamage (or lose their clothes altogether) that shows their lack of undergarments.
* VirginSacrifice: Young Wolf [[http://yafgc.net/?id=2119 narrowly escaped]] this.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Wolf, Clover, Charlotte, Glon... a lot of characters wind up either partly or entirely naked for extended periods, making an ArchiveBinge a somewhat NSFW endeavor.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Cyclops' [[http://yafgc.net/?id=1534 lack of depth perception]] can lead to some EpicFail moments.
* WhatTheHellHero: Meri-Tai [[http://www.yafgc.net/?id=2576 scolding Caudigan and The Fox]] for trying to rescue Lucas from the werewolves by themselves. Then she [[http://www.yafgc.net/?id=2577 calls Caudigan on his refusal]] to call on the king for help, reminding him that Lucas is [[http://www.yafgc.net/?id=2578 one of those royals]] he hates and mistrusts.
* WomanScorned: Charlotte.
* WouldHitAGirl: [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1423-equal-opportunity-payback/ "Women may rule here, but braggarts always go down."]]
* WrongGenreSavvy: Princess Goldie thinks she's in a fairy tale rather than a high fantasy setting.
* YaoiFangirl: Apparently, [[http://yafgc.net/comic/0416-the-adult-adventures-of-wolf-and-glon/ this is why Queen Hyeesha has a harem]].
