Wayward Sons is a webcomic written by Benny R. Powell (aka Wizbenny), that while mainly sci-fi, contains elements from multiple genres. Though it begins with the Pantheans having just prevailed in a bloody civil war, things go quickly awry while the Pantheans attempt to imprison the traitorous Kronos and a multitude of monstrous intergalactic criminals. Now the crew of the Ulympea, led by Captain Suras, must do whatever it takes to stem a full-scale prison break. What happens next, however, is completely unexpected, and the planet they end up visiting will never be the same again...Can be found here.
All Myths Are True: Or at least several myths from several different cultures.
All There in the Manual: The backstories of different characters and descriptions of their powers are usually only found on the bonus pages, which update on weekends.
Godiva Hair: Cassandra in all her apearances when she's using her power, as doing so burns up her clothes, so she stands naked in shallow water, as shown in this comic: [3]
An Ice Person: Part of Saiden's powers, but while he can merely freeze any body of water, Sefani's power is more specialized and doesn't have such limitations.
Misapplied Phlebotinum: Generally averted. The smarter characters are always thinking of new useful ways to use everyone's abilities, such as making weapons which can retain a charge from Airez for later use. Played with in the Holy Day celebration, in which Metre's Green Thumb ability was combined with Nysus' Time Master ability to ferment a lot of wine really quickly.
Mundane Utility: When Cassandra finds out Nysus' ability is controlling the very passage of time on any person or object, the first use they give it is to... ferment wine.
My Master, Right or Wrong: Those with Kronos after the end of the Egyptian war are so loyal to him, they allow a human stranger to join them as an equal with little or no objection.
Oblivious to Love: Hurk manages to not realize Ninsun's still in love with him while he's breaking up with her after having been invited into her bedroomwhile she's Ready for Lovemaking!
Personality Powers: It's not clear exactly what determines which powers someone ends up with, but it seems to be tied in to the individual's existing skills, though even this doesn't seem to always be the case. A few examples;
Hurk, who was already strong enough to take down pre-empowering H'mbawa barehanded, became bigger and much stronger.
Temis, the best tracking officer in the fleet, got heightened senses, and a sixth "danger sense".
Airez is very passionate about weapons, and the best marksman in the fleet. He gained the ability to channel energy into weapons, making them more effective, or removing the need for ammunition.
Psychic Nosebleed: Luneptis, when she uses her powers to make an illusory army.
When Cassie tried to see Andora's timeline, it gave Cassie this and Tears of Blood.
Cassie: It's as if she has no past, present or future. There are too many possibilities! Too much chaos!
Stop Helping Me!: Subverted. When Enki "aids" H'Mbawa fighting Hurk and his group he is more of a hassle than a help, but turns out his intention was avoiding harm to the Ulympean crew.
Stop Worshipping Me: Suras. However, one of his attempts at this backfires badly when his frustration unlocks his powers, creating a massive bolt of lightning. Which is a bit of a mixed message when trying to convince people you're not a god.
Sword Fight: When Hurk and the others are forced to use the "low-tech" weapons.
A Tankard of Moose Urine: The tavern set up by the Ulympeans serves a drink that, in Haydez's opinion, "tastes like piss".
Unlimited Wardrobe: Hestya doesn't seem to have a problem with replacing her uniform when it gets destroyed.
Utopia Justifies the Means: Blowing up an entire planet of innocents and causing a civil war is justifiable in the face of the threat of a race that may or may not return from the dimension it got stuck on.
Wave Motion Gun: Airez's sidearm used to have a regulator on it so it couldn't be fired continuously. He has removed it, and combined with his ability to channel energy into weapons, he can fire a sustained beam of incredible power.
Wizbenny: I will go ahead and state now that in NO WAY will Christ, Buddha, Muhammad, or Confucius will be related to or born from the Ulympeans or Tytans in any way, shape, or form. LOL.
Working with the Ex: The captain's ex-wife is also the head medical officer.
Worthy Opponent: How Kronos sometimes sees Suras. Arguably the opposite is also true.
Xanatos Gambit: An impressive one during the Egyptian War arc. First, the Ulympeans use a Batman Gambit to draw Kronos out to a remote outpost. Then, they have Luneptis cast a massive illusion, making Kronos think he's fighting an army, when he's just being lured into range of Eris. Chu teleports him just out of range, only for the real Ulympean army to attack. Kronos is at a disadvantage, so he attempts to retreat... only to find that his navy has been sunk by the Syrene, who are now flanking his troops.
Your Days Are Numbered: Hara's power is to transform other beings, even those "genetically locked" by the star core event. However, Cassandra herself predicts that this power will eventually lead to her death.
