(Hell)Riiser (real name: Lasse Riishøj) is a YouTube reviewer who specializes in, obviously, webcomics. Even despite the stigma of Complaining About Things You Haven't Paid For, Riiser still gives his best critical take on the webcomics distributed online.
Oh, and yes, he's reviewed Sonichu. Pity him.
Riiser doesn't really have an iconic outfit except for his hat, but he is known for wearing a different cool T-shirt every show. His logos and his nickname also have an unusual, but charming hip-hop aesthetic that actually works for him. Despite being Danish, he speaks fluent English with a few slip-ups here and there, which he lampshades later on.
He also does Let's Plays for his YouTube channel, which can be found here. Or you can check his stuff out on his own website here.
This work contains examples of:
- Always Wanted to Say That: He gets to use "I'm... acting!" in one of the Sonichu episodes. "Damn, that felt good!"
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: At one point names multiple Obviously Evil meaningful names, with one of them being "Zoe Quinn".
- Ascended Meme: For some reason, during the latter half of the How I Became Yours review, he slipped into calling the author Jamie Cruz when her real name is Jackie Diaz. He referred to a random character as "Jamie Cruz" in the later What Dreams May Come review, by the same author.
- Berserk Button:
- Tracing other people's art is a big one, especially when it's obvious (and often poorly done) as with the cases of Jackie Diaz, Leoian and DisneyFan01.
- During his review of Jack, it was shown that he despises when someone uses Gratuitous Rape.
- Don't get him started on Las Lindas, aka the comic that spawned his (now-gone) hatred towards furry comics in general.
- Bestiality Is Depraved: Repeatedly expresses disgusted outrage along these lines during his Draconia Chronicles review about the Bizarre Sexual Dimorphism between male and female tigers (ie, the females are fully sapient anthropomorphic tigers and the males are decidedly not).
- Beware the Quiet Ones: While he's not the most soft-spoken, he still tries to maintain a reasonable volume level whenever he speaks. That is unless the author chooses to write something extremely offensive, something extremely stupid, or clearly has offensive views, in which he's not going to play nice.
- Captain Ersatz: During the stream of Elzeron Chronicles, various stream comments note the similarities of the characters to characters in popular media: Angewomon, Cynthia, and genderflipped!Kamina/Ken Ichijouji. Riiser was upset at the author for bringing Kamina into Elzeron Chronicles. He was even befuddled at his cameo as the tranvestite "Mr. Harrison" animatronic during the homage to Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Comically Missing the Point: Chris describes his super decked-out DS in Sonichu, and Riiser is left with only one question..."Can it... play Game Boy Advance games?!"
- Country Matters: He has used the word on several occasions.
- Damned by Faint Praise: At the end of his review of How I Became Yours:What did we learn from all this? ... Jackie Diaz is hot? ... and something about tracing.
- Enemy Without: See Seven Deadly Sins below.
- Forced Meme: In one Sonichu episode, he tried to turn "Pink Magic" into a meme. So far, no results.
- Pink Magic has been acknowledged by the creators of Sunstone.
- Fun T-Shirt: A different one every episode!
- Gushing About Shows You Like: He did this with Lackadaisy, Girls with Slingshots and Dreamkeepers.
- Human Notepad: Riiser is gradually becoming one of these, with all his tattoos. Now he even has a new one, courtesy of an enemy.
- He revealed recently on Twitter that he actually has his tattoo artist on speed dial.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: Happens quite often, especially when he was reviewing Sonichu. But then, who can blame him?
- Journey to the Center of the Mind: For an entire SEASON, brought on by Sonichu.
- Let's See YOU Do Better!: Riiser has his own webcomic as well.
- Nipple and Dimed: Riiser censored parts of Las Lindas and Moon over June and his stream of Elzeron Chronicles in order to avoid this trope. Censoring Elzeron Chronicles was such a chore, sometimes Riiser misses a spot once in a while.
- Once an Episode: He ends every episode with "I'll see you on the next Webcomic Relief, take care!" usually followed by him covering up his camera with his hat.
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: At one point, due to Chris's poor emoting in Sonichu (during one of the bits made from photo stills) while reading the dialogue he apparently transforms Chris into Tommy Wiseau.
- ...Or So I Heard: Riiser isn't a fan of Oglaf—he was just borrowing the trade from a friend. Really.
- Power Tattoo: An evil version attached to him by Lucy—apparently he has to review whatever she says or it'll do something to him, but we don't know what that is yet.
- Precision F-Strike: Quite common. "Hey dickmuncher, where's the Playstation Vita?!"
- Rage Breaking Point: He was not happy about Las Lindas referencing Metal Gear.
- Rapid-Fire "No!": A common occurrence, reaching an impressive level in one of the earlier Sonichu episodes.
- Red Baron: HELL RIISER.
- Rooting for the Empire: In-Universe. His review of Las Lindas has him insisting quite fervently that the villainess Alejandra should be the protagonist as he finds Mora and company to be utterly despicable.
- Rule 34: He Or rather, his Lust. wonders why someone looked at a Pokémon and said "I'm gonna PORK THAT!" demonstrated with a Koffing.
- Running Gag: Played with in the Sonichu review. Earlier he had reacted to a plot development with "If you could do all that then what the fuck was the point of all the drama up to this point?!"
- Later on in the series, he pointed to a picture-in-picture of said clip.
- Even later, he pointed to a picture-in-picture OF said picture-in-picture of him cutting to said clip.
- Later on in the series, he pointed to a picture-in-picture of said clip.
- Seven Deadly Sins: A recent arc involves him dealing with the manifestations of his own versions of each sin.
- Shower of Angst: He had to take one of these after reading Jack.
- Sleepy Head: Sloth, naturally. Possibly even to narcoleptic levels, as he dozes off in mid-sentence.
- Spell My Name With An S: "Riiser" with two I's, not one—possibly in reference to his last name.
- Spit Take: In his review of Grim Tales from Down Below, this is his initial reaction to learning Mandy caused the September Eleventh terrorist attacks.
- Stay in the Kitchen: He mocked the extremely chauvinistic male characters' dialogue in What Dreams May Come with impersonating a caveman giving the advice.
- Suddenly Shouting: Las Lindas drives him to do this quite a few times.
- This Is Gonna Suck: After finding out that there was something that his Lust would feel bad about porking (But still pork it either way), this was the reaction of Riser. It turned out to be U.S Angel Corps
- Tomato in the Mirror: Apparently, the Riiser we were following in Season 3 was actually a manifestation of his Envy sin, which we never saw.
- Unusual Euphemism: Apparently, due to the way one panel in How I Became Yours is drawn, it makes Zuko peer right up Aang's, er, "airbending chamber."
- Vomit Discretion Shot: Had to make a couple of these thanks to reading US Angel Corps.
- Walking Shirtless Scene: Riiser's been shirtless on camera a few times. The man has some impressive tattoos. We even get to see the "Huge Fucking A on [his] back" he alluded to before when he reviewed Homestuck.
- Wham Line: "Open your eyes, dipshit! YOU ARE ENVY!"
