Web Original: Candle Cove Animated Series
Candle Cove, the Animated Series is a Web Original Cartoon (sort of) created by [[Tropers:Dingo Walley Quinton Stearn]], and is based on the Short Story from the Internet. Unlike most works that focused on the actual existence of the show, Candle Cove, the Animated Series instead tried to present itself as the actual show. The show never got past the first episode, due to Complaints from the original author, Kris Straub. However, The First Scene is still available on Newgrounds and Youtube.

Tropes found in this show:

  • Aside Glance: Just like in the story, when Janice ask's why the Skin-Taker's mouth moves weird, he looks straight at the Fourth Wall and says "To GRIND Your Skin!"
  • Badass Adorable: Janice, of course.
  • Black Cloak: Dr. Crohw.
  • Blessed with Suck: Pirate Percy pretty much sees himself as this.
  • Big Bad: The Skin-Taker, with his sidekick, Horace Horrible, and his various other ghoulish nightmares.
  • Catch Phrase: Though not in the first episode, the S.S. Laughingstock would indeed have his catchphrase, 'You have... to get... INSIDE!!'
  • Cool Ship: Of course, the S.S. Laughingstock would have been this. So would his evil brother, the Flying Dutchman.
  • Cowardly Lion: Both Pirate Percy and Julia would have had Cowardly Lion tendencies.
  • Creepy Doll: Janice has two; both of which she made herself. This is sadly how Janice is being corrupted by The Skin-Taker.
  • Downer Ending: The Ending to Episode 12, the final episode of Season 1, had Milo winning a piece to the Candle Cove Treasure Map, all of the Crew blaming Janice for loosing it and ramming the Laughingstock into an enemy ship, and Janice fainting from The Skin-Taker's Corruption (again). Made worse with no credit music, only the ambience of the sea, and the faint laughter of the Skin-Taker.
  • Deadpan Snarker: First Mate Fred, Chef Chuck, and Deck Hand Dan would all have had varying levels of this. Julia would also be one from time to time.
  • Dem Bones: The Skin-Taker.
  • The Dragon: Horace Horrible is this to The Skin-Taker.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The Skin-Taker is hinted at being this. All of his minions definitely are.
  • Expanded Universe: An Expansion to the original short, the Animated Series would have been the actual cartoon, instead of talking about the Cartoon.
  • Jerk Ass: Captain Milo and Deck Hand Dan.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Skin-Taker and Horace Horrible.
  • Large Ham: The S.S. Laughingstock.
  • Little Miss Bad Ass: Janice, who wants to be a pirate.
  • Manipulative Bastard: The Skin-Taker is definitely this. Dr. Crohw is also Manipulative... but not necessarily a Bastard...
  • Mind Screw: Episode 8, "The Doctor is In". In fact anything having to do with Dr. Crohw is a Mind Screw. The Character himself is one big Mind Screw!
  • Missing Episode: cAndLe Co VE: epIsODe 13
  • Mysterious Watcher: This is the best way to describe Dr. Crohw, but he does do stuff, so he's not really a watcher...
  • No Social Skills: Pirate Percy used to have No Social Skills, until he became friends with First Mate Fred in Naval Academy.
  • Period Fic: The original story presented itself as a little girl imagining being friends with pirates in the modern day (The 70's). The Cartoon presented itself as a little girl wanting to be a pirate and living in the days of Pirates.
  • Port Town: Seahorse, North Carolina and every town they would have visited afterwards.
  • The Rival: Captain Milo and his crew.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Ever since Janice's dad died, Julia has not been with another man. However, First Mate Fred fancies Julia, and tries to get her to like him though out the first season.
  • The Sneaky Guy: Deck Hand Dan is this to a T.
  • Super Smoke: Black smoke is always coming from underneath Dr. Crohw's black cloak.
