A sickening Eldritch Abomination, and Cthulhu.

Take the kid-friendly, impossibly cute character that is Hello Kitty. Take the Lovecraftian Eldritch Abomination that is Cthulhu. Combine them and see what happens...

''Hello Cthulhu'' is a Webcomic which chronicles the misadventures of titular Cthulhu, as he strives to spread evil and taint in the cute world of Hello Kitty. He quickly discovers that other Elder Things are here too: Dagon, the fish god (who runs a fish shop) and the Colour From Out Of Space (who quickly turns into a depressed alcoholic).

Other characters include: the cute Hello Kitty denizens, two 50 Foot Whatevers, a heroic piece of toast, a pirate banana, talking muffins, dancing marshmallows... and others.

This comic provides examples of:

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Once by a giant purple crayon, and then by a giant cheese grater.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall:
    • "Advisory Board" is guilty of this as stated below.
    • "The WQEP" also breaks the fourth wall by getting rid of the scenery because the comic has infringed multiple violations and goes onto address multiple complaints fans have with the series.
  • Chekhov's Gun: In "The interview of Cthulu", Cthulu eats the dancing marshmallow that he met. After everything is gone, Cthulu has to pay a bill of 2.5 million smiles which is impossible considering Cthulu doesn't have a mouth but because the marshmallow is still inside him, he can continue to pay the bill.
  • Exact Words: In "Advisory Board", the titular advisory board states the reader will be shielded from "hot muffin sex". The very next panel shows two muffins having sex.
Advisory Board: That clearly was not hot.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Parodied at least twice.
  • Fisher Kingdom: You enter the Hello Kitty world, you become as cute as the locals. It doesn't eliminate all the eldritch horror that comes with Lovecraftian mythos, but it makes the Elder Gods harmless and downright pitiable.
  • Fun Size: Everyone is tiny and cute.
  • Fusion Fic
  • Heel–Face Turn: Parodied by a character's (Hello Kitty) transformation.
  • Heroic Mime: The adventure-seeking piece of toast.
  • Lovecraft Lite: All these Eldritch Abominations running around are surprisingly nonthreatening.
  • Orphaned Series: Not updated since Christmas 2006.
    • In fact, it was updated fairly recently, but it isn't on the actual page. Apparently the author has forgotten how to put comics on the actual page, and is now linking them on the forums.
      • Technically, he made his last comics too large for the main site (which he apparently plans on revamping), as well as too confusing for the readers.
  • Self-Deprecation: In "The WQEP" we get this gem:
WQEP representative: This comic has numerous violations: unoriginal material, recycled artwork, infrequent updates and endless complaints of the comics just not being funny enough.
  • Schedule Slip: After the initial month, which was 1 update/day, the update rate fell to an average 2 comics per month
  • Tempting Fate: In "Taco Song" after a week of hearing the shark captain sing the "Taco Song", Dagon finally gets pissed off and tells him to shut up. Cthulu's quickly comes to the shark captain's defense and states "it could be worse". This earns the ire of Dagon who promptly responds with "So tell me how it could be worse. I want to know. I want to know right now!". Cue the giant cheese grater following them to start singing the Taco Song at a much louder volume.
    Cthulu: Jackass
  • Too Spicy for Yog Sothoth: The Tastes Like Diabetes world of Hello Kitty is so cheerful, it drives Cthulhu crazy.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show
