Wakfu provides examples of the following tropes:
- Variable Terminal Velocity:
- In season 2 episode 3, Evangelyne jumps after Sadlygrove imprisoned in Rubilax's sword that Remington simply dropped, and catches up to it.
- In season 2 episode 7, Sadlygrove has his turn saving her by jumping on an air pirate and seizing his steed before catching up to Evangelyne who was falling into the sea.
- Vaudeville Hook: Happens to one of the contestants of the Bard Acadamy in episode 14 of season 2.
- Verbal Tic: Wabbits pronounce all "r"s like "w"s. Similarly, Lenalds replace all "r"s with "l"s (renard is French for fox, and they are fox-like creatures).
- Viler New Villain:
- The Season 2 Big Bad Ensemble Qilby and Rushu are this to Nox from the first season. Rushu is a card-carrying Omnicidal Maniac and a dickwad who's arguably only saved from Complete Monster status by how laughable he is. Although Qilby has very compelling reasons for being the way he is, unlike Nox, he just doesn't care about the harm he causes to others and he outright refuses to admit his actions weren't worth it when he's at his lowest and his crimes have turned all his family against him.
- Then Season 3 introduces Oropo and Adamaï. Whilst Oropo is on the one hand more redeemable than Qilby as his love for his Brotherhood ultimately stops him from going through with his Evil Plan; on the other hand, his active goal of committing total genocide upon an entire dimension and its inhabitants is far beyond the scope of Nox's Well-Intentioned Extremist goals or Qilby's desire to drain a planet or two for his Krosmoz-cruising needs, and he tries to get under the heroes' skin in ways that the previous Big Bads never did; with his seduction of Amalia partly out of personal envy of Yugo, and him drawing Adamaï into his fold. As for Adamaï... it really can't be overstated how needlessly and nightmarishly vicious he was towards his brother and his former-friends throughout his villainous tenure just because he wanted to see them suffer, and his excuse for his Face–Heel Turn is far more feeble and hypocritical bordering on pathetic than the tragic backstories of Oropo, Qilby and Nox.
- Villainous Breakdown:
- Nox was never particularly stable, but after Grougaloragran blows himself up in order to prevent Nox from draining his wakfu, (temporarily) thwarting his plans to travel back in time to save his family in episode 17, he really loses it.
- He has an even bigger one when the Eliacube drains all the wakfu he has collected over the last 200 years just to travel back 20 minutes during the season 1 finale.
- Qilby, too, during the season 2 finale, gets more and more unhinged following Yugo's Kirk Summation.
- Villain Teleportation: Nox, and to a lesser extent Vampyro. Subverted, since Yugo also uses a form of teleportation (however, it's of a different nature than Nox's).
- The Voiceless: The Masked Gobbowler until the Dramatic Unmask.
- Voices Are Mental: Anyone possessed speaks with the Shushu's voice. That's how Eva can tell something is wrong with Grovy's body in season 2 episode 2 as soon as he talks, recognizing Rubilax's voice. Interestingly, this is true even if the host remains in control of their possessed body. This leads to a couple of instances of Talking to Themself, where Sadlygrove and Rubilax converse while in their combined monstrous form, both using Rubilax's voice.
- Volcanic Veins:
- Rubilax, when he turns into a BFS as well as in his true demonic form.
- Rushu, lord of the Shushus. Averted, however, for his true form.
- Vomit Discretion Shot:
- Happens to Sadlygrove and Ruel (and Amalia in season 2) after they went through Yugo's portals.
- And to the male judge of the baking contest at the sight of the Ecaflip contestant's methods.
- Also repeatedly to Sadlygrove during any boat trip.
- Several spectators do barf while watching Cleophelia taking up Ruel's challenge to eat some disgusting cooking.
- Wacky Wayside Tribe:
- About all of the first half of season 1, from leaving Emelka to reaching Oma Island. Largely Justified since most of the Side Quests result from Grufon (the Magic Map) leading them astray out of spite.
- Then a good part of season 2, too, before reaching the Crimson Claws Island.
- Walkie-Talkie Static: In episode 23 of season 2.
- Walking Shirtless Scene:
- Kriss Krass
- Master Goultard
- Sadlygrove too, starting episode 22.
- "Amalius" during the Brâkmarian gobbowl arc.
- Qilby after his power-up.
- Walk on Water:
- Igôle can run over water thanks to the Xelor magic of his collar.
- Goultard, too, moves fast enough to be able to do this.
- Warrior Prince: Prince Armand, Amalia's brother.
- Warp Whistle: A special kind of potion, like in the game, although the potions can only transport you back to one location.
- Was Once a Man: Grany Smisse
- Watch Out for That Tree!:
- Armand conjures a tree right into Grovy's path in episode 19.
- In episode 21, Yugo runs straight into rock walls a few times, as he's trying to master Aura Vision with his eyes sealed shut.
- Baby Grougal chasing after Az in season 2 episode 6.
- And then, Adamaï chasing after Baby Grougal in season 2 episode 9.
- Wave-Motion Gun:
- A really big version of the Stasis cannons used by the Sufokian capital ship.
- And then... Rushu equips himself with one through tearing apart a few ships, and use it to lay waste on the rest of the navy. Oh, Crap!!
- Weaksauce Weakness:
- Vampyro seems to have an allergy to Tofu. Any contact with Az turns him into a Grotesque Cute midget.
- Rushu, the king of the Shushus, pitches a fit whenever he sees a bow-meow. They're just too cute and fluffy.
- Wedding Deadline: Yugo bursts in to interrupt Amalia's marriage to Harebourg at the last moment.
- We Would Have Told You, But...: Ruel, Salygrove, and Rubilax's reason for not telling Yugo that they managed to sneak Cleophelia with them, as he was too pure to lie and would have told Amalia and Eva.
- What Measure Is a Mook?: Deserboss using the corrupted Sadidas to build the teleporter.
- When You Snatch the Pebble:Adamaï: If you can take my hand I will tell you what you want to know.
- "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue:
- The season 1 ending.
- And once again at the end of season 2.
- Willing Channeler: Both Amalia with the Tree of Life and Sadlygrove with Rubilax, for once leaving the control to his guardian, in episode 24.
- Wingding Eyes: Lady Glagla from episode 14 of season 2 has star-shaped pupils.
- Winged Humanoid: Eniripsas have fairy-like wings.
- Wings Do Nothing: The Dragon-Pig has ridiculously small wings.
- With Due Respect: Evangelyne to Amalia, a few times, notably in episode 6.
- Wonder Child: Yugo.
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Aside from Rushu, every Big Bad qualifies in some way.
- Nox, the hopelessly insane Big Bad of Season 1. His true goals are, at first, ambiguous, and we are led to believe that he'll be more of a Card-Carrying Villain early on, but three quarters of the way through, we learn that he is trying to turn back time for some reason. Not until we see the bonus episode dedicated to his past do we realize his true intentions and motivations. From there on, he becomes less of an amusing Saturday morning cartoon villain and more of a deep, tragic character who you can't help but feel for, even as he commits acts of genocide. In fact, at this point, if Nox were to suddenly reappear without his mask and turn out to be even remotely handsome looking, he very much risks falling into
Draco in Leather Pants territory. This doesn't happen, as his last appearance is...a shot of his armor in a pile of dust next to what is assumed to be his family's grave. - Season 2 Big Bad Qilby is a downplayed example. Unlike Nox, Qilby has no redeeming qualities. But when you imagine that he's been living his every past lives, remembering every moment, never forgetting while his friends would forget him eventually and he had to constantly remind them of their relationship... Not even dying would let him forget to start anew. Qilby's virtually stuck in a reincarnative version of And I Must Scream. On the other hand, his dragon sister Shinonome seems to understand what's been happening and begs him to stop despite still being in her egg; implying that she shared the same memory-retaining ability as Qilby. The fact that she remained to be on the side of good means that Qilby isn't fully excused from his mass genocides and selfish motives. Then again, Misery Builds Character could have Gone Horribly Wrong in his case.
- Ogrest, the Big Bad of the OVA's and all of Wakfu. His entire life has been one big Trauma Conga Line. His only friend, Dathura, manipulated him into obtaining the Six Primordial Dofus for herself, eventually forcing him to put her down. As a result, his own father/creator Otomai abandoned him. Furthermore, the Six Primordial Dofus twisted his mind and turned him insane. This eventually caused Ogrest to travel to Mount Zinit where he flooded the world in a crying fit.
- Season 3's Big Bad Oropo. He was a member of a race known as the Eliotropes (with an "o"), unknowingly created when Yugo used the power of the Six Eliatrope Dofus to battle Ogrest. He and his entire race were then sent back to the dawn of time, where they would slowly flicker out of existence due to being born out of a Time Paradox. Also, as each Eliotrope ceased to exist, their Wakfu would transfer over to the others, prolonging their lives. Eventually Oropo was left all alone, slowly fading from existence. His prayers to the Gods went unheard, due to him not belonging to any of the races of the World of Twelve. To add insult to injury, the Eliotrope 'god', Yugo, didn't even know they existed.

- The Worf Effect: Sadlygrove (and Rubilax) gets beaten quite a lot by the Monsters of the Week.
- World Tree: The Tree of Life in the Sadida Kingdom is connected to the land and its people.
- Would Be Rude to Say "Genocide":Qilby: Annihilate? That word is a bit strong.
- Would Hurt a Child: Given that most of the Brotherhood of the Tofu are either teenagers or a 10-11 year old boy in the first two seasons, this is pretty much a given. Special mention however goes to Season 2 episode 12, where the Brakmarians are willing to have the brotherhood "shortened by a head at neck level" along with Kriss Krass and Maude the Masked Gobbowler for crimes against Brakmarian Gobbowl (Kriss for playing Gobbowl for Bonta, the rest of the condemned for either being women in a man's only sport or conspiring to let the female members in with a gender-change potion).
- Wouldn't Hit a Girl: In season 2 episode 12, The Mmmmmmmmmporpg apologizes for hurting Eva because, you know, women are weak.
- Wreathed in Flames: Rushu. And if he desires so, his lower body becomes fire.
- Wretched Hive: Brâkmar. Unusual, though, in that it is a Hub City on par with Bonta.
- Written by the Winners: Qilby states that he himself was the king of the Eliatropes in season 2 episode 6, contradicting the events of Islands of Wakfu.
- Wrong Genre Savvy: Sadlygrove, at times, thinking he's The Hero while he's at best The Big Guy (and Plucky Comic Relief), or believing himself to be the most powerful member of the team (whom Grougaloragran more correctly identifies as Old Master Ruel). Being a knight, he is thoroughly convinced that it's his duty to protect beautiful princesses. (Well, the last part turns out to be straight Genre Savvy in the hindsight.)
- X-Ray Sparks:
- Vampyro does this to Sadlygrove with a mere touch in episode 6.
- Posho at the beginning of episode 12... from the Eniripsa's vigorous "healing".
- Adamaï gets his turn when struck by the giant gerbil's lightning in season 2 episode 1.
- Sadlygrove's Rubilax-possessed form, while shocked by the Mini-Mecha in season 2 episode 23.
- You Can't Make an Omelette...: Qilby quips "You can't make an omelette without breaking Dofus." while showing off the Zinit to Adamaï. Foreshadowing of bad things to come.
- You Didn't Ask:
- Remington's Shushus, about Sword!Sadlygrove's true nature.
- Grufon, about the sunken harbor.
- You Fool!: Given to Yugo by Nox.Nox: You fool! No-one except me can touch the Cube!
- You Have Failed Me: See Bad Boss.Grouilleux: It's no use, they're too strong!
Red Berserker: Those who flee will have to stand before the master! Those who are scared will have to face the great Nox! - You're Insane!:
- During his fight against Nox in episode 17, Grougaloragran repeatedly calls him a madman, but Nox pays this no heed. Later, both Yugo and Adamaï give him a "You're insane!" speech at the end of the final fight in episode 26. However, since it is after Nox's whole plan is crumbling around him — with, literally, his giant clock mecha — this time the Xelor may actually be listening.
- Also Yugo to Qilby.
- Your Eyes Can Deceive You: Yugo has his eyes temporarily shut in episode 21 while training his wakfu-sensing abilities with Adamaï.
- Zerg Rush: The aptly-named "Rush" in Rushu's world consist of being attacked by 666 minor Shushus.
- Zombie Apocalypse:
- Somewhat the case with the ghouls in Katrepat, though only Shadofang can turn you into one.
- What happened to the Pandalusia village in season 2 episode 13.
