The closing theme doesn't actually consist of nonsense words, just nonsense phrases.

If you listen, you can make out more or less what's being said.

Went to a bartender, boxing right out of here
Still do the modern day rock and roll gig, uh-huh
I said "good bartender, I'll have a beer and head out"
He said "I wouldn't do it" and he pulled another lid uh-huh
  • The last line always sounded like "Rock and Roll in our hearts" to me. And that fits the show. But the rest still sounds like gibberish, which also fits the show.

The theme song is the sequel to "Maybe Tomorrow", the theme song to The Littlest Hobo.

"Maybe Tommorow"

There's a voice, that keeps on calling me.
Down the road, is where I'll always be.

Every stop I make, I'll make a new friend.
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll wanna settle down,
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Down the road, that never seems to end,
where new adventure, lies just around the bend.

So if you wanna join me for a while,
just grab your hat, come travel light,
that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.

So if you wanna join me for a while,
just grab your hat, come travel light,
that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want want to settle down,
until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

There's a world, that's waiting to unfold,
a brand new tale, no one has ever told,
we've journey'd far but, you know it won't be long,
we're almost there and we've paid our fare, with the hobo song.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

So if you wanna join me for a while,
just grab your hat, come travel light,
that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow I'll find what I call home,
until tomorrow, you know I'm free to roam.

"Theme to 'WKRP in Cincinnati'"

Baby, if you've ever wondered,
Wondered whatever became of me,
I'm living on the air in Cincinnati,
Cincinnati, WKRP.

Got kind of tired of packing and unpacking,
town to town, up and down the dial.
Maybe you and me were never meant to be,
just maybe think of me once in awhile.

Heading up that highway leaving you behind,
hardest thing I ever had to do.
Broke my heart in two, but baby pay no mind.
The price for finding me was losing you.
Memories help me hide my lonesome feeling,
far away from you and feeling low.
It's getting late my friend, my love,
I miss you so.
Take good care of you, I've got to go.

Baby, if you've ever wondered,
Wondered whatever became of me,
I'm living on the air in Cincinnati,
Cincinnati, WKRP.

Got kind of tired of packing and unpacking,
Town to town, up and down the dial.
Maybe you and me were never meant to be,
just maybe think of me once in awhile.
I'm at WKRP in Cincinnati.
