WMG / Twitch Plays Pokémon Crystal Anniversary

Go To

Mega Evolution will make a surprise appearance.
Maybe a major boss trainer will suddenly Mega Evolve a Pokemon. Or maybe Evan will suddenly find or receive a Key Stone and start finding Mega Stones. I'm guessing this because a bunch of things from newer generations (such as the Fairy type) have been added to this ROM hack.
  • Jossed.

At some point, Vietnamese Crystal-style text will start showing up.
Some have suspected there may be a battle against BABA at some point. If this happens, maybe the entire battle will use text from Vietnamese Crystal, like "FIGH/BAG/ELF/GO" and "HIT TO KEY".
  • Confirmed. BABA is the replacement for Dream Red and has the trainer title of ELF COACH'S.

Either Evan or Azure is some form of relative to a previous host.
Whether they're a cousin, a sibling, an ancestor or a descendant will depend on when the lore places the events of the run in the relation to those of others.

Ho-Oh and Lugia's themes from HG/SS will be in this ROM hack.
Not a very big guess, but it seems like the kind of thing that would be added, especially considering the shop theme was added.
  • Possible. The Title Screen theme got a remix, and an 8-bit remix of the Oceanic Museum theme, itself a remix of the S.S. Anne theme, was used as the BGM for the S.S. Anne.
  • Confirmed.

The Arc Villain of Season 2, which at the time was known only as "the Glitches", was in fact Olden.
Unlike Bill, there was no clear end to the Glitches' storyline—in fact, throughout the season, they mostly remained in the background, their nature largely unknown. It's quite possible that this is a continuation of that storyline.

There will be a brand-new, (close-to-)full-length plot after the original game.
It would certainly justify the high budget for the ROM hack, and would be a pretty cool surprise. Plus, it could easily be what this comment from one of the devs is referring to.

OLDEN was intentionally added and made to look like a glitch, to surprise us later
I don't really have any evidence for this, but it would be a pretty amazing surprise. If this is the case, expect something related at the Battle Tent Ruins.
  • Jossed.

Or along those same lines...

Missingno will be in this game as an intentional surprise feature.
Maybe a trainer will suddenly send out a Missingno. Or maybe we can get one at the end of the Battle Tent Ruins.
  • Jossed. Unless of course it's an obscure Easter Egg that the chat didn't find, but Revo probably would have hinted at it.

AIIIAAB will need to be defeated twice
Mewtwo becomes catchable by winning the first fight with AIIIAAB and the rematch will require all 251 Pokemon.
  • Jossed. Mewtwo becomes catchable by winning the Viridian Gym rematch, and AIIIAAB was only battled once.

When/if we defeat AIIIAAB, he'll say "wait4baba".
So far, every time we've battled a previous host in an anniversary run, he/she said an infamous "troll" democracy input from that run. Dream Red said "start9", AJDNNW said "brightbastart", and BABA said "select"note . "wait4baba" is the obvious choice to represent Anniversary Red.
  • Confirmed.

"OLDEN" isn't a name at all.
It's a garbled description, a corruption of "Great Old One". ("OLDEN" would actually be a rather logical rendering of "Great Old One" in ELF-speak.)
