WMG / Ms. Marvel (2014)

Go To

When Kamala finally meets Carol Danvers in person, there will be a Broken Pedestal subplot.
Or at the very least, they won't get along too well. Like say, Carol's and Kamala's personalities will clash.
  • Jossed, their first meeting goes as perfectly as a last-ditch team-up before the end of the universe can go. Kamala remarks that Carol is 100% more awesome than she thought she would be.
    • However, Civil War II does indeed crush every bit of love Kamala ever had for Carol, if only temporarily.

One of the side characters will suffer a terrible fate indirectly because of Kamala
Whether it be Nakia, or Zoe, or even one of her family, something will happen to them because of something Kamala fails to do.
  • I hope not. She already feels like a fangirl Spider-Man occasionally, she doesn't need her Uncle Ben too.
  • Poor, poor Bruno.
  • Also Kamala's mother in Avengers: Back to Basics, though undone in the end through time-travel shenanigans.
  • Looks like we can add her father to the list too - the same terrigen cloud that gave Kamala her powers caused him to contract some terminal disease, and he's currently in the hospital being operated on by the Surgeon Supreme.

Issue #6 onwards will have Kamala occasionally visiting Manhattan
It is heavily hinted that the first five issues will set up her origin story and have her mainly operate in Jersey City. The fifth issue's cover hints at an eventual visit to Manhattan, but she will only make occasional visits while she still stays in Jersey.
  • Confirmed. Sort of. She joined the Avengers.
Kamala will be revealed as a "special" type of Inhuman
Neither her parents or brother have shown any powers or even reaction to the Terrigen Mist (it's not fully clear if being inside a house will keep it out, though other Marvel books imply that it makes no difference either way). Kamala's Terrigenesis cocoon is also designed differently from those seen in other books: normally, they're greenish and soft, but hers is black and glass-like.
  • Answers to this may be revealed in #8 and #9 when Kamala meets Lockjaw and Queen Medusa.
    • Jossed.
  • In the last issue of Avengers: Back to Basics, it's teased that Kamala may eventually grow as powerful as Captain Mar-Vell, and that Kang the Conqueror is determined to have her killed before she can get to that point. Exactly how she got so powerful isn't explained, but it could have connections to her abnormal Terrigenesis.
    • The vision of Carol she had back in issue #1 may have also been a tiny spark of Cosmic Awareness entering into her mind during the transformation

Kamala's role in Original Sin
As shown on the cover of Original Sins #1, Kamala is among those present among the roster of heroes. Though the extent of her involvement is currently limited to a brief cameo in #1, it is possible:A. She teams up with one of the heroesB. We discover her sin to be something relating to her origins and her possible special case of Inhumanity, but not involving her directly.
  • Unfortunately, it's not the case.

Kamala will learn the hard way that being a superhero is not at all as glamorous as she hopes
Solicits for #6 reveal that she will be crossing paths with Wolverine, who knows this much better than anybody else.
  • Confirmed depending on one's definition of "hard way" — she ends up having to literally punch out an eye of a "megagator" to ward it off of an injured Logan/Wolverine, then hold it back for the kill. She accepts that "if it's a choice between me and you, I choose me", but nevertheless right afterward she asks with disappointment:
Kamala: I mean... is it possible to help people without hurting other people? Or, you know... reptiles?
Logan: No. It ain't. It all circles around. The hurt I mean. Sometimes you can avoid hurting other people, but it usually means you get hurt pretty badly instead. The pain's gotta go somewhere.
Kamala: I don't want to believe that.
    Logan: You're young.

Mystique and Kamala will meet and likely fight
Though she's usually more involved with the X-Men nowadays, Mystique is still technically a Ms. Marvel villain (having made her first appearance as an enemy of Carol Danvers). Seeing as the new holder of the title is a shapeshifter like her, it's a fair bet that Mystique will eventually come looking for Kamala.

Kamala will fight a Moonstone Expy
They've been pushing the Ms. Marvel/Moonstone rivalry and tormenting a high school student might be below the current Moonstone but an evil school counselor would work...
  • Perhaps Zoe Zimmer will be the Moonstone Expy.
  • She does fight Dr. Minerva (a Kree geneticist and one of Carol's old enemies from way, way back) in Amazing Spider-Man #7 and #8. Power-wise, she isn't too far off from Moonstone.

Kamala will at some point be invited to join the Assassins.
The real ones, I mean. There will be a running gag with Kamala making Assassin's Creed references to the annoyance of her Assassin handler.
  • Huh? Isn't she Sunni?

Nakia and/or one of Kamala's family members will learn her identity during her Last Days arc
Whether or not it will stick is anybody's guess, though.
  • Confirmed. Her mother found her out. Also the change stuck.
    • Until her memory was wiped in Magnificent Ms. Marvel #5.

It would be the most obvious reveal.
  • But wouldn't the mist have gotten him already if he was (since other books prove that it would have gotten into the house regardless)?
    • According to #16, Kamala's parents were exposed and got no powers, but Aamir was in the mosque's basement when the mist rolled through and thus wasn't exposed.
    • Though Aamir does Terrigenesize and get powers in #18, the mist he's exposed to isn't actual Terrigen Mist.
  • Whoever else Lineage is thinking about is more likely someone we've not seen yet (like a more distant relative of the family).

Because that is the only explanation for the sheer stupidity and horror of that story.
  • Well, for the stupidity and horror the other canonically fanfic writing Marvel character is a better candidate, but that person has way too little to do with Carol Danvers to have a reason to. Not that Loki was ever bothered by such thing.

Aamir is secretly an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • That crossover issue with Simmons was Foreshadowing, Aamir has an office on the Helicarrier.

Kamala's new nanosuit will cause her symbiote-esque problems in the future
Because strange living suits given out by alien machines always seem to cause more disaster than they're worth, if Spider-Man's time with the Venom symbiote was any proof.

Kamala will go up against Kang the Conqueror at some point
It’s been explained that Kamala’s powers work through molecular time-travel, and she and Bruno speculate she may have had an Inhuman ancestor who had a more traditional time travel powerset. In a comixology mini-series, Kang specifically targeted Ms. Marvel only to be defeated by an older Kamala who’s apparently developed cosmic awareness. They even share a Warp World fusion. Kamala and Kang have been weirdly interconnected, and maybe there’s a story to be told there moving forward.

Kamala Khan would inherit the Captain Marvel mantle after Carol Danvers gets killed off in a future event or storyline.
In much a similar way to how Carol took on the mantle after Mar-Vell's passing.
